Very old? Yes. Special? Less so... Don't get me wrong. This is a nice country hotel. The pub is great and very lively and the restaurant is good as well. Our room though was extremely noisy. We booked late and only the most expensive room in the house was still available. For a steep £275 a night we got a... More

We've stayed at the Old Bell many times and have always had a fabulous experience. The building is full of character, decorated in a lovely contemporary way which doesn't detract from the history of the building but compliments it perfectly. The bedrooms are fabulous, huge with comfy beds, fantastic bathrooms and many with amazing views of the high street. The... More

I stayed here for business which means I only stay for a few hours in the hotel. When I was here it was very pleasant and the room provided everything I needed. I liked the touch of an nespresso coffee machine with a wide range of tea available too. The only thing I would have changed was the bed sheets... More

I recently booked in for one night as the hotel I was staying in locally had a wedding party therefore had to vacate my room for one night before moving back. Reception were awful, no assistance to take luggage upstairs, room was so run down and not clean, window in the bathroom did not close, tv did not work, very... More

After a disastrous start to our stay in malmesbury we stumbled here hoping they had a room for 2 nights, the receptionist said she thought they might be booked but would check. Whilst checking we explained our predicament and she said she would do her best for us. Luckily she had a room and said that it was one of... More

We booked this hotel at the last minute as we were on the road travelling towards Salisbury. As we were walk-ins we didn't have a choice of room but found our room to be satisfactory for our needs. The room was clean and bright, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. It was a little... More

Malmesbury is a beautiful town which was a pleasure to visit. What a pity The Old Bell which I assumed to be the best hotel in the area was below standard. As the hotel is grade 1 listed I expected it to be atmospheric which it was but well below average on the cleanliness front. After entering our room we... More

There is plenty of parking, in various places around the hotel, one car park needs to be negotiated through a tight archway. Check in was swift and easy, and the receptionist took us up to our room. There is not a lift, so make sure you are fit if you have a room on the upper levels! We had a... More

We had Lunch here when visiting the Abbey Gardens. We decided on the tapas menu and asked for advice on portion size from the girl behind the bar. She was very helpful and advised us on the number to order. We had 6 betweeen 4 and a bowl of chips and this was perfect and delicious. A nice relaxed meal... More

We booked this hotel very last minute (so no choice of rooms, just what was left) as my husband was taking part in a triathlon nearby and we decided it was better not to have to get up at the crack of dawn to get there. We stayed during the town's annual fair or parade so the hotel was very... More
