I have spent some significant weekends at the Talbot Hotel, including my husbands Fortieth birthday celebration, my Fiftieth, and various other times for meals, or drinks when we have been nearby, and have always really liked the combination of unspoiled historic building, and great ales...More

The pub is lovely. The setting idyllic and the staff friendly. Unfortunately, the food is awfull. The Chef tries to be very sophisticated but it just doesn't work. The coliflower cheese is pure salt and inedible. It is such a shame as eveything else about...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
We knew this was a pub when we booked and not a hotel and we certainly aren't pretentious people - we are walkers / cyclists and fit in with most - maybe you had a different room to us (or even a different breakfast - ours was full English but certainly not good). I have never put a bad review on trip advisor and hope I don't have to do so again in the future.
