Many guests commend Village Hotel Liverpool for its array of amenities, including a praised pool, gym, and steam room, as well as the comfortable rooms and delectable food selections. While the hotel's location is appreciated for its convenience to transportation, some visitors note it's not the most vibrant neighborhood.
Cleanliness receives high marks across the board, though opinions on room decor and value for money are mixed, with some guests finding the rooms outdated and extras pricey. Despite occasional issues, the service is often celebrated for the staff's warmth and efficiency.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel was very shabby and old looking. Nothing like the picture on the website. Also outside of Liverpool and about 20 mins drive to the centre. Check in was quick and easy and the receptionist was lovely and helpful. The rooms were very very basic and in desperate need of a revamp. The room came with the usual things such as hairdryer, iron, iron board, fan and kettle with tea and coffee. Although old looking room was clean which is the most important thing. Towels came sealed and if you required any further items from housekeeping you would have to go to the ground floor and ask as no phones in room. They said this was due to covid yet there was a phone in the foyer to call taxis. So who knows? The heater wasn’t working in our room so we were bought up a fan heater which was ok but nowhere near how a wall heater heats the room. I contacted village hotels regarding my concerns and nearly 4 weeks on and still no response. The hotel itself was big and and several function rooms. There was even a wedding during our stay. The restaurant was expensive with a very limited menu. If you’re at this hotel there is a town 5 mins drive away which has a Tesco and various eating places such fish and chips and Indian who will also deliver. The whole place was very tired looking and I was disappointed that pics of the hotel were not accurately reflected on their own website. Plus point was the staff were very friendly and helped where they could but you could see they were short staffed and very overworked. Overall lovely friendly staff but wouldn’t come back.

Dear Valued Guest Thank you very kindly for your review of your recent stay with us. I am pleased that the team made a very good impression on you during your stay with us. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the accommodation aspect of your stay and the limited menu in our Pub & Grill. I appreciate that our bedrooms are a little tired in places and we do hope to improve them in the future. I am sorry about the issue with the heater in the room not working. I can see that this was flagged on the maintenance log and rectified the same day, however I appreciate this did not help you during your stay. You mentioned about contacting Village Hotels, however nothing has come through to me personally. Please feel free to forward your comments on to me directly and I will of course respond.

I was visiting family in the area and wanted to stay out of the city centre so chose this hotel. I've stayed at numerous Villages around the country so felt this was a safe choice for me - I must say on arrival the reception staff were lovely and very welcoming, however the rooms did let their warm welcome down as they just don't reflect the Village brand at all. The rooms are clean and tidy but just not the typical Village look, they need some uplift - they're tired!
There was a great selection on breakfast, as I would expect and the pub had the usual extensive choice there usually is at a Village hotel. I especially appreciated seeing that all of the staff here wear masks and actively encouraging guests to use the sanitising stations around the hotel.
The stay was convenient, comfortable and I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, but this really is like the hotel Village forgot... and it's a shame, because the staff here are what Village should be all about! I didn't get the gents name on the bar, but thank you for the recommendations of where to visit on my way back home!

The Village hotel had a great deal on, just £25 for a nights stay (not including breakfast).
The receptionist was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed regarding our stay. The room itself was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
Only downside is that the room decor was very dated, wall paper was peeling off in a part of the room and the bathroom was not the cleanest.
Overall a standard room but would not pay the standard price of £84.

We booked a stay on a special rate for celebration of village re-opening their hotels after lockdown. Thankfully we didn’t pay full price!
Our check in was smooth; Mandy was helpful, reception was bright and modern. We were given room 218 on the first floor, on the door was a security sticker informing us it had been cleaned. Upon opening the door weren’t we in for a delightful surprise!! NOT!! The room smelt of damp, the window was a fogged up with damp, and quite possibly it was one of the most basic rooms I’ve ever come across. No coffee/tea making facilities, the bathroom upon inspection was old and tired and quite frankly was another disappointment. I visited reception and was informed that all rooms were the same, their upgrade had been cancelled due to lockdown and weren’t due to be re-scheduled now!!
We were moved to 209 a family room, can’t say it was much better but at least it didn’t smell.
We visited the bar during our stay, downstairs public areas were bright and modern (how precious village hotels we’d booked were). Staff friendly and polite.
Village Liverpool also isn’t in Liverpool, it’s Whiston, 30 mins drive from the centre.
Our stay was disappointing and quite frankly village Liverpool should be ashamed of their rooms, tired, basic and letting the village brand down. We certainly wouldn’t stay their again

Stayed here with our friends over the bank holiday weekend check-in was easy and quick
room was adequate really does need upgrading stains on the walls and floors mold in the bathroom round the shower cubicle
we had a evening meal here found the staff extremely dismissive and not very helpful border line quite snappy at you
even though we had a few drinks here on the day
drinks expensive but you expect that in village hotels
good night sleep no noise at all
now for the breakfast not worth the extra money at all
self service for all cold items then staff serve you hot items
bacon pink and not cooked properly not eatable at all
only eggs available was scrambled and these were a disgrace tasted awful and smelt so bad
so basically all we had was a coffee and a tea
tried to speak to a manager and none was available rang and left a message to complain still no reply
if your staying in the area look somewhere else this village hotel is not worth the money.
we wondered why this hotel looked so empty now we know why very poor.
we have stayed in many Village Hotels and this is definitely the worse ever

A last minute evening stay was booked for me and the Mrs for Village Liverpool (Whiston).
Upon arrival we was greated by very friendly staff. We had a slight issue with self check in (which was my fault) however, this was immediately resolved by management and the team.
They booked and allocated a table for us to eat that evening which was very kind and helpful.
Bar staff were exceptional! With a limited menu (due to the current climate) being vegan sometimes it can be a little tricky. Not here. Staff had a word with the chef and were happy to cater and make a flew slight alterations for us. The food was great!
I spoke with almost all the staff here, general conversation and always happy to go the extra mile.
The senior management here have distilled a fantastic service which echos throughout the team. These guys are a real credit to the village hotel chain and raise the bar when it comes to looking after its guests.
Having stayed in multiple village hotels throughout the years, Village Liverpool are by far the best when it comes to looking after its guests.
I'm really looking forward to visiting here again in the near future.
Many thanks for all your help, service and for going the extra mile.

+1
I need to start by saying the staff were all really pleasant and it can't be easy coming back to work after the lock down. The hotel is in a gorgeous building but it is sad and shabby inside. We booked a club room as it offered contemporary decor, a walk in waterfall shower, free parking, gym access and WiFi... I'm sure the room was contemporary in the 1980s, sadly it did not meet that claim in May 2021. The shower was an old over the bath one and the bath was full of rust stains. There were no USB charging points in the room.. But if you have a dial up modem you need to plug in you'll be fine!! Turns out parking is free at the weekend anyway as is the WiFi and gym access if you sign up for the booking revolution, again for free. So don't waste your money paying for an upgraded room here. Breakfast is all pre- cooked, in fact I think the sausages may have been cooked last Tuesday. I opted for a continental breakfast on morning 2...yogurt, fruit salad, cheese, croissant was advertised.. I got an apple. A nice crispy apple, but definitely not fruit salad. Oh and a snap pot of philadelphia... Not the cheese I anticipated. A sad reheated squished croissant and soggy cheap bread, kind of toasted. All very disappointing. Sorry Village, just not good enough.

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for your review of your recent stay with us. I do appreciate your comments regarding the hotel being tired in comparison to some of our sister hotels and can 100% understand your frustration with this. We hope to be able to rectify this in due course. With regards to the comments about the breakfast, what you described is not good enough and I will address with the team the inconsistencies that you have described. Checked into the village having stayed at many other village hotels around the UK this was the worse we had stayed in. Room 225 is very dated and dirty, there was rust running from the bath tap into the bath which was all stained, there was a 1.5cm gap in the door you could see into the corridor which meant you heard every little noise.
The single beds were so small every time you turn over the bed moved as it was on wheels and was so flimsy.
The toilet was dirty like it had been used and not flushed!
No coffee shop, dirty dinner plates left on tables in reception area.
Breakfast very limited coffee served in pot was freezing cold
The whole place needs a refurbishment and good lick of payment

I stayed for 1 night for my partners 30th, when we checked in we were not informed of breakfast times so we missed this as we arrived at the restaurant at 9:40,. The bath had yellow stains in and the bathroom overall is very dated. The food quality at the restaurant is very poor, I ordered a tikka masala and it was like a paste, the rice was like water, I did not eat this. My partner ordered steak which was basically just fat, we were offered the desert menu which we got but then no one came back to take our orders so after 30mins we paid our bill and returned to our rooms. Doubt I'll ever return to this hotel, was very disappointed

After the year we’ve had I treated my mum to an over night stay here for her birthday. Upon booking I was directed towards the app to check in and check out but on the day of check in I was made aware of the fact that it didn’t work for that hotel. When we arrived we tried using the touch screens that check in for you but I got all the way through putting my details in before it crashed! The lady at reception was there to help out and sorted it really quickly for us. She was in a mask and behind a Perspex which was comforting. We were required to wear our masks too while walking about.
We got into the room and it had a COVID secure sticker in the door which symbolised the room was clean and hadn’t been entered after the clean. The towels were wrapped in plastic for COVID safety reasons. The room was perfectly functional and clean. We were provided with a basic but good selection of drinks on the hospitality tray. The bathroom could us a little updating but it was perfectly functional.
We were provided with a leaflet explained the chances due to COVID which explained everything we needed to know. The leaflet explained we needed to eat breakfast in our room, however we had been told something different by the lady in reception. I went to ask her and she quickly clarified it for us, causing absolutely no confusion.
Breakfast was in the restaurant area and was presumably a buffet pre-covid. The staff worked really hard to make it accessible for everyone and there was no issues at all. The breakfast was tasty, we both really enjoyed it.
I think all of the staff have worked really hard to keep things going during this difficult time and in my opinion they did perfectly.
