From the outside it looks very nice and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We had room 3 which was very tired. Paint was coming off the wall in the bathroom and the decor was drab. It was basically clean but there was a smell to the common areas and room that showed it needed a deep clean. The location is ideal for the town although you have to park in a pay and display it’s near and free at night. Breakfast was ok with a nice view of the river and the staff friendly. We had a problem with the heating as the digital radiator valves were damaged but the staff sorted it and the room was warm. All in all ok but it could do with some refurbishment or at least a deep clean.

This was our second stay at the waterside, Staff and facilitys are pretty good, The room was ample, comfortable and warm, bed was huge and intaily quite comfy but did find it a bit lumpy after a couple of nights, After working in the catering trade for 40 odd years, i really dont like pre-order breakfast, it's not as though they were busy & i find it tends to make Chefs take short cuts by pre cooking bacon and sausages as it did in this case, & by the way it was an awful sausage anyway, leaving food under hot lights to form a skin on beans & genrally dry food out. As breakfast is half experince they might want to recosider, as had i known i wouldn't of booked. As for knowing what stock to order would be a poor excuse as it was only a cooked breakfast. saying all that we had a couple of evening meals that were nice, and some nice wines,

I love the Riverside and I have stayed there 3 times before, in fact it is now an annual experience. The location is perfect, the ambience is warm and friendly, the staff are delightful and the breakfasts are fab! I will be booking for next year.

Wonderful service, friendly staff and lovely food. I’d recommend that you book a table especially for the Sunday carvery as it is rightly so very popular. Enjoyed ourselves so much we went back for breakfast which was every bit as good. Well done all at the Riverside.

Wow wow wow. Where do I start. OK we were recommended The Riverside by a friend and what a recommendation it was. So we were aware of Boscastle and the history, but never thought of visiting the area. How wrong I was. From the moment we arrived at the Riverside Hotel, we were greeted and welcomed with such friendliness and professionalism at the same time. All instructions were clear and we were made to feel at ease immediately. We made our way to the room which was easy to find as the signage throughout the hotel is clear and easy to follow and to understand. The room was perfect. Clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, bathroom hand wash, shower gels, and plenty of clean towels that were replaced daily. The bed was amazingly comfy and we had three perfect nights sleep. Our view was beautiful as our room backed onto the river and we had the local ducks right outside our window, just beautiful. As we made a four our journey we decided to grab a bite to eat. The food here is just absolutely top quality and freshly cooked. The service by the chef and staff was just impeccable. We then decided to only use the Riverside restaurant for a evening meals for our duration of our stay . The menu is perfect. Breakfast was included in our deal and the breakfast choice was brilliant. Large selection for everyone to enjoy. No complaints, once again perfect. All the staff were extremely helpful with suggestions of things to do in and around the areas. They also have panflets to assist you on your travels. Overall, our experience at the Riverside was perfect from star to finish. 22nd Oct to 25th Oct. Room 6 Cledders and Janet. Thanks to all at the Riverside and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Context: Stayed here for 2 nights in late Sep-2023 Positives: Comfortable stay. Lovely environment. Good places to walk: sunset at the harbour is lovely. Good breakfasts. Good dinners. Friendly staff. Room had an opening window. Neutral: Our room faced the river. One of us really liked the (surprisingly noisy) sound of the river, one didn't. Negatives: No lounge area or bar area to sit in. On the times we wanted to be somewhere in the hotel (out of the wind and rain) but not in our room, there was no space and we had to go to one of the local pubs (Riverside staff recommends The Cobweb Inn).

We had a fantastic stay here. The room was lovely with great views of the river (and the ducks!). It was also one of the cleanest rooms we have ever stayed in. A word of warning, there are a lot of stairs and while we were offered help with our bags, if you have mobility problems, it may be an issue. The wife is Plant Based and the breakfast options for her were great and we ended up eating in the restaurant every night for the three nights we were there (unusual for us) due to the PB options and the quality of the food. (They even had Oat Milk sachets in the room, a new one on us!) The Staff were all friendly, chatty and helpful and made the stay an extra pleasure.

Ok we got there, the room was pretty basic, nasty light, awful ceiling, cracked tiles and generally shabby throughout. After a mediocre breakfast, one veggie, one meat. Neither of which were consistent. The ordering system is terrible and as residents you can’t eat off the main menu, which lead to tiny portions. The next day we had avo on toast which was revolting. The final nail in the coffin was when the waitress said the terrace was full and turned us away rather than sitting residents in the restaurant or bar. We left then. Not even 48 hours into our week

The staff here are as lovely as the location. We popped into in for breakfast which was very good, and they bought my little girl over a massive tub of bread for her to feed the ducks with. These things make such special memories. I love this place.
