We (family of 4) stayed at Penhillick for a week over the Easter period. The house was spotlessly clean and the location wonderful. But for a holiday cottage that calls itself ‘luxury’ (we found it via premier cottages) it very much lacked that little bit extra. The kitchen only had the basics, an extra pan or bowl would have been...

My family and I spent a whole week in a cosy lodge, overlooking the forest . We had comfy beds. For breakfast, there is a good selection of food; from scrambled eggs on toast to a full English breakfast [with some added things to it]. At dinner, there were some lovely meals and some things were grown there. All of the ingredients that...

"Last night I dreamt I went to Mandalay again . . . " Not quite the right Daphne du Maurier novel but closely related since she described Trelowarren as "the jewel in Cornwall's crown" when she wrote "Frenchman's Creek" there. I haven't eaten at the New Yard Inn for nearly ten years and was really happy to return for my...

We have stayed at Trelowarren countless times in the last 14 years and our last stay in October was really lovely. We stayed in our usual cottage - Chyreen and it was very comfortable and extremely clean. We were provided with plenty of extra logs for the lovely log burnerbut the weather was so good we didn't have to light...

Here there are 1000 acres in which to roam and within tha grounds are a sculpture garden, a spa complete with. heated outdoor pool, a craft centre (closed all winter) and a restaurant which is establishing itself as a centre for loxal cuisine, There are approximately 400 acres of woodland and sheep graze placidly across the landscapes around which are...

Trelowarren is a large country estate which has been sensitively established into an elegant holiday setting. It is arranged around an old country house, which has been owned by the Vyvyan family for generations, and it is the latest owner who has undertaken the extensive conversion and renovation of the grounds which are now open to to the public. It...

We stayed at Tregana, a beautiful house surrounded by woodlands where you felt immediately at home. The house was clean and homely, the kitchen was well-equipped and downstairs was a play room so the kids could store their toys and play to their hearts content, however they were rarely in there as they enjoyed being out and about exploring the grounds...

Our second visit to Trelowarren confirmed that it is an excellent place to stay. Our cottage was exceptionally comfortable and well appointed, and we felt at home immediately. The NYR restaurant is very good, and the staff are all very friendly. The pool is a great place to relax, weather permitting, and the spa treatments are superb. In summary, an...

Even the drive onto the estate is stunning - a long stately road lined with ancient trees, and then a short dive through a majestic wood (called Dragon Wood) before coming out onto the estate itself. The houses are all eco friendly and well-designed. The kitchens are very well-equipped, and the furniture is stylish and comfortable. This year our house...

Have visited several times, not just for the excellent food, stunning walks, peaceful surroundings and incredible views, but because it is far from the madding crowd. If you love the countryside, you will be delighted with your decision to visit.
