Passing by and decided to stop for an evening meal, and wow, were we pleasantly surprised by the meal or what! The presentation (Mixed Meat Curry by the way) was the best I've ever seen! The quality of the meal was second to none, temperature, taste, all spot on. Perfect!

An excellent place to stay. Breakfast was outstanding and the restaurant food was equally so. The hosts are lovely and friendly and the place is spotless. The staff are brilliant at their job and couldn't do enough for us. We had our dog with us who was spoilt rotten, sausage for breakfast and numerous treats. An ideal place to stay, we will return.

Our first night at The Royal Oak was so welcoming by both staff & locals. Our dog even got a job behind the bar for the evening. Could not recommend this place more than enough. Excellent service, lovely home cooked food. We will be back very soon!

Party of four and the other three meals were fine. Two of us wanted ribeye steaks but only one left which I had and my friend had the rump which was fine. My steak was so tough and fatty that I sent it back and they offered a rump replacement and a free beer which I accepted. However, this looked nothing like the steak that my friend had and was almost as tough. Rest of the meal was fine but beware that the car park is very small, nowhere to park in the adjacent streets and I had to leave my car about 200 yards away on the main road.

The Royal Oak was fabulous - staff were really friendly, helpful, welcoming and attentive - nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was superb, in particular the full English Breakfast and general breakfast menu was great. Our party of three ate evening meals in the restaurant on two occasions, the meals for both nights were excellent - piping hot food, clearly home cooked, freshly prepared and presented really well. Great selection of beers at the bar and not overpriced, lovely beer garden and situated in a great location for touring the local area. We genuinely loved the place and would definitely go back if we ever get the chance - thank you to Graham and your excellent staff for making us feel so welcome :)

The Manager - old bloke who looks after Bar & Food is a miserable git...even the staff who work for him you can tell they don't even like him. Heres a tip! walk back down the hill about 400yards to the Globe Inn were the whole team cant do enough for you..Food & Ales to die for...you can even take your beer out & sit by the River on the Bridge
