I visited The Britannia Inn for a large family meal in March 2024. Bring a gluten free vegan, I phoned in advance to enquire about special requirements and meal options. I was welcomed by Stacey who liaised with the Chef on my behalf. When we’d agreed a meal, Stacey then emailed me to confirm the menu choice to put my mind at rest. On the evening I was served a delicious meal of ratatouille (by far the best I’ve ever had!), a perfectly cooked jacket potato, and an unexpected serving of tasty falafel on the side. I was then given a slice of rich strawberry cheesecake with vegan ice-cream. All in all, a delightful experience from start to finish, and I’m very grateful indeed to Stacey, the Chef, and the waiting staff who made the evening very special indeed. Thank you!

A fantastic room. Huge and clean. Bed was comfy and shower powerful. A big mirror and a decent hair dryer. What more can you ask for! Staff were very friendly too. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing and plentiful. Would definitely stay here again.

This is an amazing place for service and food. I talk often about Customer Service v Experience Customer Service is reactionary. It is what you need to spend money on because your customers have a problem or they are unhappy. And it’s the customers who aren’t happy who will utilise most of that resource through complaints etc. Customer experience is proactive. It’s about understanding what their journey and experience of interacting with you is like. The closer you get to creating an optimal customer experience, the less you’ll need to spend on traditional customer service. I saw Customer experience very much in evidence during our dining visit. The table next to us had small children and is as apt to happen, the kids spilt their drinks on the table. One of the staff, saw this out of the corner of her eye. She served the other table she was at, then went out to the kitchen and got some cloths to wipe away the spilled drink. This without being prompted or asked for. AMAZING And to cap it off the garlic bread is to die for. It is beautiful. We also had a great steak and a great fish meal. All served by amazing staff who left us feeling as though we'd landed on another planet. it is not often we see this sort of service in England, so it really stood out. Whatever you are doing guys, bottle it, and sell it to other business owners so they too can have service standards you exhibit. …

On the way to Penryn in pouring rain we came across the ' Brittania' and pulled in hoping to get lunch. A busy bustling pub there was very little room but the staff went out of their way to find us a table. The food was excellent and the service prompt. Wifi and plenty of parking space.

Booked on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. Lovely food, we had steak and it was cooked to perfection. Desserts were the highlight for us, couldn’t decide between all the choices so bought extra to share. Lovely ambience. My only criticism would be that it was extremely hot in there. Will be returning.

VERY expensive for standard Pub Grub. 2 x Steak and Chips (not big steaks and no additional sauces) and 2 soft drinks (half pints) came to over £50.00. They also allow dogs in the eating areas. Poor on every level. Never again.

We used the Motorhome parking facilities which were great. Level pitches, toilets open all night, water and waste available. Met up with family for dinner in the evening, food was lovely and staff were very friendly, would definitely stay again and highly recommend it for anyone looking to stay in the St.Austell area.

We booked our family "Pre-Christmas Meal" here. We are all well trained, well behaved and treat others with the uppermost respect. We spent a lot of money and had a very tidy tip put to one side (in cash) for our waitress in advance like we do every year, wherever we go. Unfortunately, she was as miserable as sin and could not have been more unhelpful. We all noticed it and were offended by it and we shall not be coming back as a group, as couples, at Christmas, or at any other time. I'm also guessing our tip would have been considerably more than she gets paid for an entire shift....Her loss.

Had a good meal here good choice on menu. Restaurant is very nice and well spaced out. Bar area is also nicely laid out. Outside area good. Plenty of parking space. Drinks a bit pricey, especially if one would like a dash of lemonade, for which I was charged £1. Extortion

Met/greeted at the entrance to Beer Garden by two members of staff, neither wearing face masks. Arrived at peak time (12:30 ish), but NO hand sanitiser available to use as we entered the garden. Drinks arrived very quickly, waitress wearing mask, good service. 90% of customers were walking around (to get cutlery, condiments, or go to the toilet) without wearing masks. Surely everyone should be wearing masks whilst walking around the beer garden, and only take off mask when seated. Not one member of staff were asking customers to keep masks on when moving around the grounds. Total lack of Covid safety. Carry on like this and we will be in another lockdown.
