We walked past the location several years ago and made a mental note that this could be a place worth staying at. The location, nearly at the summit of Caradon Hill is certainly superb, but. Had a look at the hotel website before booking through TripAdvisor/booking.com - just wish we'd read the reviews! There seem to be two distinct 'experiences'...

MUSICIANS - DON'T PLAY HERE! Thoroughly mucked about by these cowboys. Was asked to play a private function several weeks ago. Just checked the timings and they cancelled it with approx. 5 hours notice. Lovely place on the moors so suspect it will be taken over soon by someone who knows what they are doing. Until then, AVOID.

Handy for dog owners but really let down by cleanliness or lack of. Room was a decent size but could have been a lot cleaner especially the bathroom. Great shower but again let down by water leaking through the door onto floor. Our room also was near to I assume another water pump or something that at any point would...

Stayed here for 1 night with the wife and kids in one of the hobbit huts, very basic but very cosy. Definitely a better alternative to camping. Can get very windy as it's on the top of the moors. Staff were brilliant and very friendly who couldn't do enough for you.

I read the reviews previously which gave me an idea of where we were staying. 1. It's on the moor 2. It's windy, foggy, and rainy. (It's on the moor) 3. Whole heck of domestic and roaming animals about. Sheep, ponies, cows, couple of guinea fowl. (It's on the moor) 4. It's pretty remote (it's on the moor) 5. You are...

Sorry this has taken so long to write. We had a fantastic night here. One of the best new years eve nights out in a long time. Bar staff were incredible even when we arrived around 9:30 we had the fist round on the house. So much nicer than the pub in the village. Thanks for a great night will...

A warm, roaring fire is a most welcome addition in the bar area as we visited on a dull & very wet afternoon! Staff are friendly & we enjoyed a natter with good coffee. The downside to this venue is the long, tortuous road which is full of potholes & very unpleasant to navigate.
