Detailed Reviews
Overall very good, would stay here again. We had a Friday night here, off-peak season. Had top floor room with a room to the ridge beyond with lovely Galloway cattle grazing. Some top floor rooms would have the bed facing towards the distant sea. It was quiet at night to sleep despite the main road not being far away. Bed very comfortable, Room was clean and modern. Walking distance to main street cafes, restaurants, shops, walks and lookout. Room was spacious, had plenty of places cupboards/table/bench to put belongings. Good to find that the tea making facilities cupboard included plates and cutlery and toaster (perhaps because of COVID). Room and bathroom very clean. Manager helpful and welcoming. Minor points to be aware of, but these are not criticisms: 1. Bathroom had spa bath with shower head above; just a little tricky for a short person like me to step into the high bath to have a shower. 2.Car park has very low clearance, was not a problem for our small SUV but could be for a 4wd. 3. Some rooms on lower floors face into front car park/entrance, so I would recommend only staying on top floor. 4. No lifts in hotel, so be aware you may have to carry bags.

We stayed for a weekend in a spa suite with king bed. Very friendly staff, always happy. Lovely view from our room with sea, Kingsford Smith memorial park, rolling hills and hinterland. Fell asleep to the ocean at night. Restaurant may need a booking, or you need to learn to eat earlier (things shut around 7:30 or 8 in Gerringong). Walkable to the Fern st shops and eateries and IGA further up. The room is a simple but decent set up, but will have everything you need. There was a balcony you can take dinner on if the sunsets and dinner on the beach isn’t feasible. Very relaxing stay. No lift so bring smaller bags, but they have accessible rooms on the bottom floor I think.

We had 5 nights at the Park Ridge Retreat and had a very enjyable stay. Shane the Manager was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. We had a Spa Room and it was very comfortable, i am a notoriously poor sleeper in hotel beds, but I slept well every night. The highlight of the stay was definitely the restaurant, had Dinner 3 nights and Breakfast twice, all the meals we had were cooked to perfection and very tasy, they had a special on whereby if a couple ordered two courses each you received a free bottle of wine to have with dinner, we chose the Chatsworth Estate Cabernet Merlot, which is a serously great drop.
Some small criticisms to balance the review, locking the room door involves pushing the button on the inside of the door knob and forcefully closing the door, this makes quite a noise, i am an early riser and usually like to have a walk at the crack of dawn, closing the door would definitely have woken my wife so i did not have early morning walks, also as everyone closes their door the same way, it can easily be heard from inside the room. The Park Ridge Retreats website says that it is a stones throw from beaches and the town centre, I certainly agree it is close to shops, restaurants and the town centre, however it is a good 15 minute walk to the beach and it is very steep and hilly, coming back up the hill, particularly at night with the poor street lighting in the area might not be for everyone.
The criticisms i have written about were minor, we had a very enjoyable stay, and would certainly return to the Park Ridge Retreat, probably not in winter again though, but in summer when we can make full use of the incredibly beautiful area.

+1
Amazing views from our room, everything clean, neat & tidy. The staff very friendly & helpful. Location is within 5 minutes or less to the local Restaurants & Cafes but for dinner recommend the Park Ridge Restaurant, We stayed 3 nights and had excellent meals with very affordable drink prices. 10 minutes walk down the Rd you have the most amazing views, whale watching In season and walks to satisfy the most avid walker and take a camera . If you jump in the car your Central the Kiama Region and South Coast. Great for families with several salt water pools for young children in near vicinity.

Stayed at this hotel after a long day on the road, decided on room service as we were tired after traveling all day I ordered a lamb dish which turned out to be inedible due to the toughness of the meat, think soul of a hiking boot tough. Was a pricey dish so not thrilled but sometimes these things happen
During our check out I thought it would be a good idea to let reception know of my meal experience. I was completely brushed off by the person at the counter No apology just a “Well it was the most popular dish last night”! I guess that mean it was my problem then We left a review of our experience on the site we had booked our stay through and interestingly we were then contacted by the hotel and given an apology and a whole lot of untruths, That I was apologised to at the time of check out and it was explained to me that the food was catered by a company independent of the hotel and my issue with the food had been passed on etc etc Lies people Good customer service is not that hard, being genuinely heard and acknowledged with an apology thrown in for good measure at the time would have gone a long way!!!

Very clean & comfortable rooms, lovely big bed and great views from the room. Fiona and her husband made us feel welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Centrally located and within easy walking for amazing vistas of the coastline . The Restaurant is excellent and well priced with excellent food and service. We ended up having room service with a tray full of entrees for a lighter meal.

We have stayed here a number of times now and always come away feeling relaxed and highly satisfied with the accommodation and experience. Host Shane is an experienced operator and the rooms are well equipped, comfortable and quiet, particularly those at the back looking out towards Boat Harbour.
The beds are extremely comfortable and the Hotel is right in town so a short walk to everything such as shops and restaurants. We ate this time at the hotel restaurant and were very happy with the meals (Chef my oysters moray needed more time under the grill).
Overall this hotel is highly recommended and outstanding value for money.

Having stayed at Park Ridge Retreat previously we were sadly disappointed this trip and will not return again.
Their rates are a bit on the expensive side however, the location is great. Undercover parking although tight when fully utilised by other guests, is most appreciated.
Check-in was so brief and efficient, we felt like we were an inconvenience.
Our room was at the front of the building, above the Managers residence. Frequently we could hear water coming through the drains from the bathroom in the room above. 1 of the 3 lamps in the room worked properly. The television was not available for use as it was not plugged into power, with power cord inaccessible behind a heavy cabinet.
Room was clean but felt pokey. Queen bed on the hard side.
Restaurant kitchen closed at 8pm.

I have stayed at the Park Ridge Retreat a few times now and every time it has been wonderful. The rooms are a good size, especially is you book a King Spa room upstairs. The staff are all friendly and helpful, plus the chef is amazing. The hotel is only a two minute walk to the main street and about five minutes from the beach. You could not get a more convenient location to explore such a great area as the NSW south coast and of course Gerringong.

I recently chose to have a couple of nights on the coast on the way home and booked into a king spa room. I'm a taller bloke and was pleased to fit in the spa comfortably. The bed was really comfortable and the meal from the restaurant was fantastic value and delicious.
The hotel is in a great location and easy walking to the main st areas with cafes and shops and even walking distance to the iga.
Staff were all friendly and very helpful.
Will definitely stay here again.

As far as I know there should not be an issue checking in at this time, the front door should be open, go to the check in desk, if unattended ring the bell. As with a lot of these facilities the manager lives on site.
The check in time is 2 pm, and could be earlier subject to availability. Checkout time is 10 am, and can be midday for a $20 surcharge.
