What a great motel for a stopover, stayed 2 nights, clean, new bathrooms, comfortable beds, nicely airconditioned and spacious. Little kitchenette very handy. Although this motel does not offer breakfast due to COVID many eateries a short drive away, or bring your own light breakfast which we did.
Yes the motel is located on the Hume Highway but it was still quiet, I would not say that it was noisy.
There were lots of guests staying for 1 night as had Weddings to attend. Would be ideal for 1 or more nights.
Had a lovely garden and lots of gazebos to sit in, would be lovely in the warmer months.
Check-in was friendly and efficient. Parking right outside your room.
Could not fault the Poplars Inn - would stay again.

Nothing really special, run of the mill really.
A couple of nice gazebos out the front so you can enjoy the sunset but nothing else.
Rooms are average. A bit noisy from the highway out the front but that's bearable.
Noisy inverter fro the Solar system making odd noises.
A long way from anything as it is actually in Braemar north of Mittagong and there are no close restaurants, pubs or anything else in the vicinity.

We stayed here as part of a road trip. The motel is a bit back from the Old Hume Highway separated by a spacious garden which I imagine would look lovely in the Spring. So there was some road noise but it died down at night.

The room itself was comfortable and warm. It was very clean. It had soft toilet paper! And had a little kitchenette and the whole room was quite spacious. I liked the 2 club chairs. We could park right outside the door.

The wifi was v e r r r r y slow - but reliable. Plenty of power points. Decor - mishmash of newly renovated and chintzy.

I thought it was a bit pricey compared to cheaper, better places on our road trip.

Having stayed at Poplars in the past couple of years a number of times I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay. I booked a room after 9pm on the 2/1/21 for myself, single occupant and arrived at the hotel at 10pm, after not much sleep I decided to check the room out for an extra night and was promptly charged for the extra additional night. I decided to have a rest during the day and was quietly laying in the room with the Do Not Disturb sign on my door. Just after 2pm a large and extremely noisy family was checked into the rooms beside me. The mother was swearing at the kids who were aged 10 and up and had decided to argue over which bed they wanted then they began to run up and down the outside of the hotel yelling and carrying on disturbing myself and the other guests. The family has absolutely no consideration for the fact others were staying there also and had completely ignored the Do Not Disturb sign on my door right next to their room.

I decided to check out early as a result of the noise, even as I was in the front office explaining the situation the noise I was complaining about could clearly be heard quite a distance from their room and the kids kept running and yelling all the way up and down the buildings including past the office. I was offered to be moved to a room at the other end of the small motel which I refused explaining they were making too much noise throughout the entire property. As demonstrated the kids again came running back past the office from the other end of the hotel of been offered. I was given no apology by staff who don’t seem to comprehend English as it is their second language, I do appreciate that they are obviously making an effort to learn the language which is a difficult task but when the situation wasn’t handled professionally as I would’ve expected from a business and I was not offered a refund of any kind of apology I was extremely unimpressed. The previous owners of the hotel and staff were wonderful to deal with which is why I had returned but as for the new management, terrible. I will never be going back to this motel again and advise other single people traveling for business to stay away from this place.

Very spacious room. Bed very comfortable.
This place has a sink you can wash dishes in instead of in the wash basin.
Comfortable club chairs to sit in.
Located on main road in from Sydney.
Extremely easy to check in.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Mittagong.

We booked two adults and a medium size dog. We specifically requested the dog in our booking as ‘pet friendly’ was listed on their website.

The booking was accepted. 10 days later they advised us a cancellation on the basis of ‘no pets allowed’. No apologies, no nothing; left us high and dry. What a way to run a business. Don’t use them

I made the mistake of booking this place in a hurry via bookings.com as jet lag was making the drive home impossible. The room looks like it was furnished in the early 80’s and then completely forgotten! The beds were a choice of completely worn out and rock hard or completely worn out and saggy, although one of the many “notices” telling you what you can and can’t do, warns of additional charges if you dare to use both beds! The carpet made my skin crawl it looks so old. I certainly wasn’t game to walk on it with bare feet!
Of the many “notices” displayed around the place, a couple are in relation to if you dare to travel with a pet (telling you not to check in if you do) which I found pretty laughable, as I have stayed in pet friendly motels where the rooms were much nicer. I also have dog beds at home which are far better quality and would be much more comfortable than the beds this place provides!
Unfortunately we were too exhausted to look for somewhere else, so we endured this third rate establishment. Thankfully I had earplugs with me, as the noise from the highway is bad.
I can’t comment on the service as I never saw anyone, much less encountered them.
Yes, the shower was good, but I expect more than a decent shower from a motel room!

A comfortable room set back from the road amidst trees & shrubs.
Surprisingly the TV had a selection of streaming services such as Prime, Netflix etc.
Unique kettle which also provided a "light show" a la Borealis Australis, but in blue, different.
Superb electric blankets were appreciated by us "banana benders".

We recently stayed here to attend a family wedding. The whole experience was excellent. We had to make a few changes and these changes were done effortlessly. The rooms were lovely and clean and spacious. I would definitely stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending this motel to anyone

Fast checked in with designated box for key collection. No hassle.

Clean room with kitchenette provided.

Large size room and comfortable bed.

Dining table in my room. Clean shower with high pressure.

Where can you have dinner if you stay at the Poplars.

I enjoyed a meal at the RSL Club on my recent visit to Mittagong. Some time ago I had a meal at the Golf Club on the Old Hume Highway; at the time it was a great meal prepared by a French chef. Unfortunately I cannot say what it is like now. Staying at the Poplars Inn Mittagong would mean you would have to drive. The RSL does have a courtesy bus. Hope this information is helpful.
