Detailed Reviews
This hotel would probably have an 'Excellent', if it weren't for some misleading marketing on the website. Not all rooms have the inclusions promised, but the staff were very accommodating, and I was able to switch rooms and we loved the room we stayed in. I wish I had been able to dine in the restaurant, but it was 'Christmas in July', and that just wasn't my thing. It was a charming hotel.

Place is old, however it is comfortable, clean and quite. However watch out for the $25 buffet, we paid for at checkin only to find the next morning that the buffet was not operating, and the cook couldn’t even cook a pouched egg.
Also they closed the bar at 9.05pm as we walked up to it, the close time is advertised as 9.30pm.

We spent a night here over the June long weekend and enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is very Downton Abbey with great staff and set in a beautiful cold climate garden.
Heritage room beds were very comfy with a mix of pillow types/thicknesses (hooray!) and the rooms were nicely heated with a small sink. Shared bathrooms are fine - the ladies with a fab art deco mirror! - with steady hot water and various products to use.
The buffet breakfast was very good value for money and we had the light and bright sun room to eat it in.
The hotel is within easy reach of town (Cheese Factory, the Robbo Pub etc) and short drive to the spectacular Carrington Falls. The local area is perfect for rambling walks, scenic drives and exploration. Shame it was too cold to use the nice looking pool but we'll be back.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay over the June long weekend and that you found our hospitality and nostalgic Hotel a great retreat of relaxation for you. Our shared bathrooms have original mosaic tiles, however for your next stay we highly recommend booking a room with one of our renovated ensuites that oozes elegance and is styled in art-deco sophistication. Our convenient location offers easy access to many local attractions, which is perfect for sightseeing. We hope you will return in the summer and enjoy the delights of our refreshing swimming pool.

We have just spent two nights in a King Deluxe room, which was overpriced as the only “Deluxe” part was the King bed and linen. The en-suite bathroom facilities were basic at best. There was a gaping hole on the floor where obviously the shower partition had been removed. We appreciated the common areas, where fires were lit in the evenings, but one evening the owner was comandeering the couches in front of the fire, and not welcoming of guests. Breakfast was not locally sourced, of inferior standard and served as a a buffet during COVID times. Such a beautiful area, and as we experienced so many of the local cafes and restaurants support this region’s produce and suppliers.

My hubby and I have wanted to stay at this hotel for some time now and he finally took me over the weekend as a birthday surprise. I appreciate that the building is old and I love its heritage. So you accept it lovely quirkiness and look past the creaking floors and accept its charm. What did disappoint was the room it was quite small and lacking a lot of facilities that hotel rooms usually have. I didn't appreciate the used toiletries in our bathroom. Most annoying was the cups and tea/coffee left in our room but absolutely no way of boiling water - where was the kettle? anyhow all this aside it was a pleasant stay. We were on Level One and were woken very early with the footsteps above us.
Breakfast was the worst ever, it is an expensive breakfast but basically inedible. Rather go buy a pastry in town Every is sitting in those warmers and everything is overcooked and dried out. Just awful, I could not eat my food.
Dinner was another experience, my husband had arranged friend to join us for dinner as my birthday surprise. We had to pre-order so they knew what we ordered and everyone paid for themselves. Very disappointing when the starters were just put in the middle of the table and no one knew what was what. People paid for their own food. But the cherry on the cake and what not only disappointed me and also embarrassed me in front of my friends 3 couples ordered the seafood platter for 2, so 3 platters. It arrived on one plate and was put down on the table in front of one couple. Its an expensive meal and to not be given your own platter plate was disgusting. My friends could not even help themselves as they were on the other side of the table. There was not an equal amount of seafood, it was also cold and overcooked. Everyone at our table was disappointed in the food. I apologised to my friends who were expecting a nice meal. Would not recommend. The drinks are expensive but it is what it is. Ended up being an expensive night away that wasn't good at all. left feeling very disappointed and very ripped off.

A couples Christmas in July weekend was marred by the shabbiness of the bathroom and a view over a mould encrusted exterior. The bathroom had a new shower head and taps that had no indication of hot or cold. The plastering on the renovations was clumsy and shoddy. A shower curtain was inadequate to stop the flow of water from covering the bathroom floor. All this for $300 per night! The Christmas dinner menu didn't reflect what was actually served. The turkey was served in large dry chunks and was indistinguishable from the dry pork. The presentation was terrible and there were no Robertson wedges. The twice cooked souffle was bland and rubbery and the dessert was a limp piece of cold pastry with a smear of apple. When the bill for dinner arrived, were overcharged for everything to the tune of a several hundred dollars.Altogether a disappointing experience, never to be repeated!

Robertson Pub should spend much less money on glossy advertising which promises a wonderful experience to attract FIRST TIME patrons and more money on providing quality food and supportive staff.
A group of 18 who when mentioned the discrepancy between what was advertised and what was actually provided, were treated inappropriately by the cook and the inflexible staff who retorted with: it's hotel policy, we can not change this.
My advice: before YOU risk a disappointing experience at Robertson Pub wait till there are consistent favorable reviews BECAUSE there are many local choices who understand customer service and offer wonderful dining experiences.

We were sucked in by the internet photos. The building and grounds need extensive TLC. The bathroom in our room was revolting, something you would see in an old institution. The toilet was in the shower which had to be wiped down after showering. No hairdryer. Tea/coffee and cups provided in room but no kettle or mini fridge. The room was massive so not sure why a kettle and fridge were not conveniently provided. Basically, if you want a cuppa you need to go hunting and we found a Birko and fridge down the hallway in a walk way. The hotel is 3 story. We were the only guests. We could hear vacuuming at 9.40 pm. Restaurants/bar not open. It was weird. No vibe. We felt like Brad and Janet in Rocky Horror or like we were part of the Addams Family. We booked a two night stay but only stayed one night.

No electric blankets or spare blankets in room. Staff came up to check heater was on. It wasn't. Gave me a new heater it didn't work either. Shower head kept kept flopping into the wall in both showers. I couldn't have a shower. Being woken up at 10pm by a very loud crashing noise continued the bad experience. It was staff throwing a large pile of bottles into a skip bin. Things got worse at breakfast with a toaster that didn't work and having to carry food through 3 rooms to get to the dining room. The list goes on but I won't.

Lee, our hotel is equipped with an advanced hydronic heating system that circulates across the entire building, automatically adjusting its temperature to ensure optimal comfort for our guests – a feature that is favoured by 99 percent of our guests. If a radiator is turned off, it is simply an indicator that the desired temperature has been achieved in your room. However, the system is designed to self-adjust and kick back in if the room temperature drops, ensuring your comfort at all times. Additionally, at your request, we provided two fully operational extra electric heaters to further accommodate your preferences. We would like to further address your concerns giving you our perspective. Your Dec 26 reservation was a peak period and although you wanted a family suite you opted for two separate rooms / bookings, due to pricing. We initially addressed your dissatisfaction with your two separate booking emails and explained and addressed your numerous calls in a professional and clear manner on how our booking system works. During your stay, you were not happy with the surcharge for a drink and we explained this is a customary charge due to the public holiday. You informed us that your Lemon, Lime and Bitters drink had too much ice and we promptly remade it to your liking. You also mentioned the open fire was uncomfortable in our bar area. However we explained our climate in the southern highlands and offered alternatives seating arrangements for you. You shower knob was adjusted immediately as requested. Our priority is to ensure that all our guests have an enjoyable stay and we believe that we were professional, obliging and courteous regarding all your numerous needs throughout your stay.

Like most places in the Southern Highlands, the Robertson Hotel is blessed with the natural beauty of established gardens and beautiful scenery of the area, however, unfortunately this is its only redeeming quality. The Robertson hotel is extremely run down, dirty and is in serious need of some TLC and work to upgrade rooms and facilities.
Bedrooms do not contain the most basic or amenities such as fans, air conditioning, kettle, iron, hair dryer etc.
Bedrooms are terribly dirty with stained carpet, walls, bathroom and furniture. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and squeaky. Linen and towels were old and worn.
There was an odour during our stay which some guests attributed to the plumbing and based on previous reviews I suspected the same.
The add insult to injury, the staff were incompetent and plain rude and offensive. After locking our key in the room, the front desk made a big issue of having to re-issue a replacement; scolding and chastising my wife. The attitude from staff when asking basic questions or making requests made our entire party feel very unwelcome.
We stayed for a function and noticed the level of service was extremely poor and staff were impossible to find when you need them. The food was below average in our experience.
From the outside, the Robertson hotel looks pretty but it’s riddled with issues beyond the front doors. Save your money and spend it elsewhere, trust me! And trust the other reviews here. Money wasted.
