We recently had a stay at the Denman and had mixed feelings about it. First, the good points. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar is very good and it's so good to be served by a barman who is very passionate about his job and knows his products so well. The bar itself is excellent and enjoyable to...

Arrived in the afternoon unaware that this weekend was the Thredbo jazz and blues weekend. It was really busy and no carparking. Drove up drive to hotel and rang at reception for some attention. Inquired about parking and was advised that there was none or extremely limited at the Denman. Parking was apparently available somewhere in Thredbo. The (non existent)...

We had 4 nights at the Denman, in Summer, which is in a great location in the heart of Thredbo Village. Our room was as described, comfortable & very clean. Breakfast was included, but was a basic breaky, juice, cereal, toast, croissants, tea & coffee, but quite adequate to fuel the walks! We ate in the restauarant and enjoyed a...

We love staying at the Denman in summer and winter. Lovely hospitality keeps us coming back. Rooms are clean and tidy. The bar makes great cocktails and offers a lovely place to sit relax and catch up with friends. Looking forward now to winter.

The Denman has great location in Thredbo with lovely views, staff are excellent, included breakfast is great, public areas of the hotel are excellent & the bedroom is very comfortable with comfy King bed, all well appointed. Small fridge in room is really handy. All this is let down by a very ordinary bathroom that needs a refurb urgently. The...

A small group of riders based at Thredbo for a four day riding tour enjoyed the time at the Denman. This trip was about the riding but at the end of each day a good meal and comfortable place to stay is imperative. Although the building is older and bathrooms are quite small, views are incredible and the staff ensure...

We stayed in this hotel during the winter shoulder season and found the Owners/hosts delightful. Dinner at the restaurant over looking the ski runs was magical especially since we dined at twilight, and the steak cooked to perfection. My only criticism would be that the hotel is looking a bit tired, the bathrooms were out dated, the drying room thermostat...

We stayed at the Denman for 3 nights at the end of August and had such a lovely time. The rooms are small, but very cosy and conveniently located. There was a real warm and lovely feeling about the whole place and staff that puts you in a good mood. There are no lifts and no onsite parking, but we...

This hotel is very expensive but stingy. The room was cold when we arrived and with one electric heater it was either too hot or too cold ...and no separate heater in the bathroom. The bathroom was very basic ...unchanged since the 1980s with one small basin and the shower ran hot and cold. The bedside lamp did not work...

This is a case of the hotel looking better on their website than it actually is. I booked it as it was priced in the high bracket of hotel type accommodation thinking if I paid I would get more. How wrong was I. Our King room is no bigger than a small motel room with the painted Besser block walls...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Denman Thredbo, is a family run hotel with an emphasis on warm and friendly service, it is the ideal place to stay, play, relax and enjoy all that the beautiful Snowy Mountains has to offer. One of the first properties built in Thredbo, the building which now houses The Denman has been welcoming visitors since 1962. In keeping with the heritage of our beginnings the rooms are compact and comfortable with the added character of an older style ski chalet. Many of our rooms have views of the mountain and thanks to our central location, you are just a stones throw away from the village square with its cafes shops and bars. The chairlifts are a five minute stroll and if you don't feel like walking the village shuttle bus is at our doorstep (winter only). Take some time out from the outdoors in the Library, Terrace Restaurant or Apres Bar and soak up the ambience and old world charm of our hotel. ... more   less
