The Temperance House has a new owner and management. We were greeted by Kathy an owner. This restaurant has had its ups and downs but this is definitely an up. Our meals, both steak, were each done with a nice presentation and full of flavor. Mary Lou Tantum

We spent Christmas Eve here. Newtown is a charming little town with lots of cute shops. The inn is beautifully decorated, the rooms were lovely and very clean. We had dinner in the pub area of the restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service. We'll definitely be back.

Wonderful ambiance, delightful servers, the roasted romaine with blue cheese, the crab cakes and the filet are amongst our favorites. All of this in charming Newtown and across the street sits the Zebra striped whale for fabulous ice cream ( not to mention crepes and milkshakes)

We were seated promptly and our waiter was super. The food was bland at best. I ordered the mussels to start. They were chewy and sitting in butter that had zero flavor. My main course was the crab cake. It wasn't even close to representing what the menu described and was heavily filled. Not sure if the crab was very...

Great cozy spot. Room is comfortable, food good and music fantastic. They were very attentive to every need. The general manager personally walked me to my room. Its a nice spot for a quick getaway or a business stay. Recommend it highly!

I had heard good things and wasn't disappointed. The place has a nice old - it's historic, homey feel to it. The staff was superb, food top-notch and I even had a great chat with the owner Kevin. I was lucky enough to be there for live music too. It couldn't have been a better night.

Nice room in a great location. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Bar on lower level was convenient. Nice hospitality room for coffee and continental breakfast Note no elevator or easy parking. So not handicap accessible.

Had Lunch here and the mushroom crepes were out of this world! Our server Amber was delightful. There when we needed her but did not hover. We HD our 2 year old grandson and the kitchen did a good job of getting his meal out quickly . Very good value for a great lunch.

Didn't stay there yet but people checking out praised the owner on the accommodations. We ate there and had the seafood pot pie. It was great. The management was very friendly and hospitable. We look forward to staying there on our next trip.

I was torn between a dinner entre or 2 appetizers. The seafood pie, a thick chowder, was good but very heavy. They ran out of the mussels and I went for the entre - a filet mignon steak. Ah, so tender and delicious with sauted spinach. And since they ran out of the mussels, no charge for the seafood pie....
