The lobby is interesting and inviting. The hotel staff is friendly. The rooms are shabby. Old furnishings and old style bathrooms. Uncomfortable beds and Flintstone pillows (hard as a rock). Window insert air conditioner (the room was really warm). Small screen tv. We've stayed in...More
Penn Wells Hotel staff are great to work with from year to year. My sons, daughter, father and myself stay here every year for an annual Buck Hunting trip. They always are ready for us and allow us to make advance reservations for the following...More

Getting a room at this location is slightly confusing. We stopped for one night on a road trip and found there are three options: the historic hotel, the new Penn Wells Hotel and the Lodge. You can get room and price information at the new...More
First of all, the Penn Wells Hotel is NOT the Penn Wells Lodge. Important distinction. The LODGE is a block down the street (owned by the same people) and is lovely. But the HOTEL. OMG. We booked online the day we were to stay. It...More
The menu items were varied, and as FOUR dinner guests, we each enjoyed a dish of our individual choosing. Service was good, attentive to detail, and the price was very reasonable. The evening dining hours stretched over a reasonable time. Also, the breakfast at the...More

Hello Brett.our check in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 3 p.m. We do not promise early or late check in, but in many circumstances if you call in advance (for check in) or call ahead speak to the desk clerk (for check out) we can make accommodation. Our flexibility, especially for late departure, depends on whether we need it ready for the next guest at 3 p.m. Cancellation policy for typical reservations is noon day of arrival. Special conditions apply for certain prime days or for deals such as advance purchase discounts. If you have specific follow up questions on these points please don't hesitate to contact us. Shawn

Thanks for your question. At the Penn Wells we understand that pets are a part of your family. Our pet-friendly accommodations are in the North Wing of our Lodge property, which is the more economical section of rooms which have not been renovated recently. They are the rooms at the Lodge with the oldest furnishings. We have selected these rooms for pet-friendly rooms because they have separate entrances and do not require guests to bring pets through the main lobby, breakfast area or indoor corridors. While we love pets, we understand that not all of our guests do, and some have allergies or other sensitivies to pets. We regret that we cannot accommodate pets in all of our room-types, and appreciate your understanding.
You mentioned concerns that these rooms are small and noisy. These rooms are about the same size as other non-suite rooms at the Lodge, and we do not get complaints that the pet friendly rooms are noisy. Some guests on Trip Advisor do raise concerns about the size of the rooms at our other property--the historic Hotel property (not the Lodge) and their noise levels. That property was built in 1869. While many guests find their history and charater charming, some guests prefer larger, more modern rooms. Thanks, again, for your question.
