Rooms were clean, you walk in and there is local fresh baked bread on the table and parched peanuts. A booklet about the history of the area was interesting. Free WiFi, TV worked fine. Just nice, plain, but nice. Fishing, walking trails, quietness of the being away.

The cabins here are perfect. Everything you can need. We stayed here an entire week. Close enough to do everything in South Carolina. Seriously cant say enough great things about the place. AC, TV, Wifi, fishing, trails, simply awesome!

With the kids away at camp we were looking for a few days away without a long drive. Barnwell State Park was perfect for us coming from Aiken. It took us and easy drive about an hour to get there. We were only planning on staying for 3 nights, but were enjoying ourselves so much we decided to stay one...

We are typically RVers, and would have been in the campground (which has some FHU sites not always found at state parks). This weekend it was just the two of us -- looking for a few days away without the extra work of the RV. This park is not near a large city...or even a Walmart...but that is just what...

Barnwell State Park is a great park. The cabins are really nice with two bedrooms. There are five total. Trails are nice and there is a swimming area. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Stay the weekend here and enjoy nature!

Nice park that needs handicap improvements. No place to park at bathhouse, walk up access only,no paved sidewalk to access bathhouse. We are finding South Carolina State parks in general need to improve handicap access.

We were looking for a locale to visit family and this park setting was ideal. The rangers were extremely friendly and helpful. We rented two cabins for the six of us to sleep in and to have enough room for relatives visiting during the day. The cabins are being renovated in regards to bedding, furniture and window shades. One of...

We camped here last weekend. The campsite was nice, but small. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. The pond was very low, so fishing was out of the question. The road in is in great need of repair - lots of potholes.

I was checking out pricing for the cabins at Barnwell State Park. In the middle of looking at the available dates the price rose from $51 a night to $66 a night. I won't be staying there. I believe that they tried to bring me in under false prices, I should have gotten the $51 original posted price.

This small South Carolina State Park has 2 ponds for fishing, picnic areas, 1.3 mile nature trail, cabins, campsites for RV's and tent camping. Constructed by the CCC, it has been maintained very well. There is a playground for children. Since we were there in the off season it was very quiet and you heard the sounds of nature over...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
One of 16 state parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, Barnwell is best known for its great fishing spots. Three small lakes host a large population of crappie, bream, bass and catfish. Overnighters can take advantage of the Barnwell State Park cabins and campground, both of which sit only a short walk from the park lakes. Recreational opportunities include non-motorized fishing boat rentals, picnicking and a nature trail that winds around one of the lakes. A community building is available for meetings, reunions, weddings and other group gatherings. ... more   less
