NotSo Hostel is an excellent place to stay. The hostel is very close to King St and the centre of town, we walked to most places as we didn't have a car. It was easy to get to the hostel from the greyhound bus using the directions NotSo hostel provide in their confirmation email. Nicole was extremely welcoming when we...

NotSo was a great place to stay. The atmosphere was very social and Nicole the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She made me feel like I had a friend in Charleston! I was originally going to spend two nights there but I extended my stay to four. I stayed in both the dormitory and one of the private rooms,...

I had high hopes for this hostel upon arrival: located near the sights of the city, charming house in the local architecture, warm and professional reception by the staff, good price. I was in a private room, in a house with only private rooms. All was wonderful until the nightly raucousness began. It was reminiscent of my college dorm years:...

Thank you for your review and for the review your partner left about this same incident. I am glad to hear that the rest of your stay was enjoyable. The staff was not involved in the evening's activities. An employee lives on site but was not apart of the group that was causing a disturbance. Guests are not allowed to...

I read the reviews before I booked with this hostel. I've stayed in a number of guest houses and hostels in Asia and in Portland and I've had mostly good experiences. This was not one of them. The young woman who ran the place seemed very friendly when we checked in. Indeed, she was always friendly, but the last two...

Thank you for your review. That night, the staff were as surprised as you were about the guests there. The employees of the Notso Hostel did not throw or participate in the evening's activities. We do our best to enforce quiet hours. I apologize you and your husband who left the next review were not there on a quiet night....

My husband and i stayed at the Cannon St annex for two nights. I would rate this a "good value" despite there being a few issues. For the time of year we visited, our room was $70/night and hotels in the area start at double that. We stayed in the Kingsolver room which was adequate for our needs. It was...

Going into a situation where you are paying $25-60 a night for a place to stay just outside of the downtown of a big city, it's obvious that you will not be living in luxury. However, some of the basic things that you may look for out of a place to stay are lacking. The rooms are small - even...

The location is great . . . near downtown historic Charleston, on the free trolley route, easy access to Hwy 17, and close to 2 good, vegetarian-friendly cafes (Four Loaves, Black Bean Co). The employees are super nice. We used the kitchen for storing our food in frig, snacking, and making breakfast.

LIKED IT A LOT! I stayed in NotSoHostel at the end of June 2012, in the Cyprus Room in the middle house. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were just lovely, BATHROOM was about twice as big as I have at home! :-) What I appreciated was big mirror in there - not everywhere! Overall very clean and simple and just...

The NotSo hostel is the perfect place to stay in Charleston. The room and common areas were very comfortable. The main house has two great porches, one upstairs and one downstairs, which make the perfect place to pop open a bottle of wine and share stories with other travelers from around the world. I met many new friends while I...
