I stayed at this Hotel with my family and my wife's job during hurricane Matthew I really enjoyed the entire stay, even though my wife had to work taking care of different things pertaining to her job and what else was needed to be done....More
This hotel is very outdated. The room I had was on the 10th floor. It was dirty and smelled like urine. The hallways smelled like urine also. The bedsheets had cigarette burns in them. I asked the front desk for some deodorizer spray and they...More
Tried this hotel for our most recent trip to Carowinds. It is right across the street. Te had a room on the 11th floor which is where all their double room suites reside. Thought that because it had a Kitchen advertised in the description we...More
The Clarion is an older upgraded hotel. Several years ago it was a Ramada Inn. It is located directly across from Carowinds which is great. Beds comfortable and the pool is great. The only drawback is there was an odor in our room. We bought...More

When we were at the hotel recently, we had rooms on the 8th 9th and 10th floors. As we had 12 workers we were up and down the elevator quite often and not one time did we get the smell of marijuana. There was a time when we got the smell in the lower hallway leading to the restaurant but not up in any of the rooms. As the restaurant is considered an open public place not just for the residents of the hotel I'm thinking that's where the smell may have started and anyone walking into the restaurant has easy access to the elevators and all the rest of the hotel that's why it's very important to keep your room locked at all times while you're in there or not.

No indoor pool. Would not recommend this hotel. Unsavory types hanging around the parking lot. Mexican joint on the property appears to be a gathering spot for ne'er-do-wells, and the food sucks anyway. If you like Choice properties, I would suggest the Quality Inn right next door. Recently renovated, nice folks. CLEAN and quiet.
