Our family spent 4 days on the island and couldn't believe the great, quiet fun time. We played at the park, walked the boardwalk, saw several alligators, cranes, birds of all kinds and I'm sure we missed a lot. It is also a nature preserve...More
The island is nice, resort not so much. They false advertise on activities such as dolphin cruise, shelling cruise, fishing excursions. Brochure says they are available and on the calendar and they make up reasons not to go out even when weather is good “...More

I think some of them are open. I honestly never went to a sit down meal on the island. Only snacks by the pool. Usually if we are eating out we go off island To Beaufort or one of the other islands. Mostly we cooked.

My dad retired from the Marines and I grew up in the area for some years but I always go back every summer to Fripp Island and Beaufort both places are layed back and beautiful. However it is a little drive to Parris Island around 30 min. If you were staying several days then it would be worth it staying at Fripp because the hotels fill up fast. I don't know when his graduation is but you may want to check Bed and Breakfast or hotels in Port Royal if there is any available.
