This is a nice resort and have been coming for many years. The beach access is separate from the resort and you drive from the resort to the beach or they provide a shuttle bus. The only food is a "food window" of sorts, but the food is good when they are open. You will need to venture out on your own beyond that. For over 20 years, Disney has provided a unique feature at the resort of having "B'Lou Crabbe" a local storyteller and entertainer tell of the island and history and background of the region. He came with his beautiful dog "Shadow", which was a golden retriever. However, Disney has discontinued B'Lou and Shadow and sadly no longer provides this feature. Management at the resort is not responsive to repeated calls and requests. However, the resort is beautiful and is an enjoyable place to visit.

If you're looking for a relaxing time--- this is the place for you. The resort is spread among the live oak trees with their hanging moss. There are marina view and marsh view rooms; we lucked out and had bldg 18 which was a bit of a hike from parking but the reward was a lovely marsh view- highly recommend- There is plenty to do if you wish in the low country kayaks pontoons etc.... or grab a padded hammock and chill in the trees, of course there is always the pool with water slide. Be sure to check out their lovely beach house with pool. Only a couple of drawbacks that were apparent; know that a second floor room is more like the 3rd floor as the bldgs are on stilts and the beach is quite a distance from the building due to local rules. If you're wanting a bit of relax time this is the place.

B'LOU and Shadow are part of the magic of Disney. B'LOU is like a character Walt Disney empowered by storytelling and interacting with children, families and all! They are the magic that makes this low country feel like an extension of Disney. They raise the bar alone with so many cast members at DHH. Have traveled many times and stayed longer for one more show! Don't miss This real life characters.

I don’t usually write reviews but I had to for this resort. My family and I have stayed at almost every Disney resort including Aulani. Disneys Hilton Head Resort is easily in my top 5 list. It’s such a laid back and quiet experience that really is relaxing. But there is also enough sight seeing to do to keep you busy if you want. Also the marsh that Disney built the resort is such a unique experience. I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many animals at a Disney resort (besides the animal kingdom lodge) as I have at this resort! The real cherry on the cake though is how nice all the employees are. Every employee I interacted with was nice and courteous. They even remembered my name and made meaningful connections with my younger siblings. If any management is reading this I want to call attention to one employee in particular. Her name was Debbie and she was working at the food stand at the hotel. She was the nicest disney employee I think I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Overall this resort amazing and I recommend it to everyone who is looking to stay at a Disney resort!

I get that this resort is meant to resemble an fishing lodge, but I would expect more from Disney. There were no Disney touches in the room at all. We had a 1 bedroom and the shower was barely big enough to turn around in and had no shelf or ledge to put my toiletries. The first night someone showed up at our door asking if we had called for a plunger when we hadn't called anyone. The second day the trash girl was great - we got there at the same time we did and she gave us the option of having our trash emptied or not. Since we didn't need it she didn't come in and do it. The next day however the girl was insistent and made us go out on the balcony so she could empty our trash. Very discourteous. And on our final day housekeeping knocked on our door at 9am to see if we were gone yet even though the "Occupied" sign was on the door. Also on the first day we wanted to take the shuttle over to the beach house. We waited over 30 minutes for the shuttle and it was a smallish white shuttle van that had very narrow steps to get in and out with. She was much more timely coming back, but I suggest if you want to go take your own car and get there early so you can park there. The beach house is really just a pool on the beach with a snack bar that closes early. There's beach access but we never quite figured out how to rent chairs/umbrellas. It's not through Disney but you would think the cast members at the beach house would have some idea of how to do it. If we want a beach vacation we won't go back here. We might go back to stay so we can attend the RBC golf tournament, but that would be the only reason.

Room Tip: I asked for a marsh view but could only see it from the balcony looking to our left, not actually...
