Stayed two nights at this comfortable home. We had three rooms with a balcony and a great view. It was an authentic log home with huge log beams. We enjoyed our breakfast very much, and especially liked that she made an extra effort to prepare a breakfast for us so we could leave by 7:00 a.m. Our bed was very...

We so enjoyed our stay at Emerald Pines. It's pretty close to town and easy to find, yet when you arrive you feel as if you're far from the busyness of civilization. It's a beautiful home in a lovely, secluded, peaceful, mountain setting. Al and Marilyn were such fabulous, welcoming, personable hosts. Al even took us on an morning jaunt...

Location was just what I wanted, in the heart of the Black Hills and not in a city, yet it was easy to find. I thought I would feel uncomfortable in the intimate setting of staying in someone's home, but Marilyn and Al were easy to talk to. We lingered over breakfast, which Marilyn made so much fun to anticipate,...

South Dakota offers complex rock formations, amazing trails for foot and bike traffic, but the food tends toward things canned, frozen, and full of chemicals. The amazing retreat of innkeepers Al and Marilyn will jump-start your day of activity. In five wonderful presentations, we've had fresh fruit parfait appetizers, then fresh scones or muffins or biscuits. The third course, served...

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Emerald Pines Refuge B&B (stayed in both rooms). Al and Marilyn are wonderful hosts! You will start each day with a prayer led by Al and a fabulous breakfast filled with homemade treats such as peach/pecan muffins, breakfast casseroles, and lots of fresh fruit all freshly prepared by Marilyn. Every breakfast...

We chose the Emerald Pines as our base for five pleasant days in the Black Hills last September and it turned out to be one of our very best B&B experiences. The location was convenient to what we wanted to see and do, the Finch Suite was spacious and Marilyn and Al were absolutely the best hosts we've ever encountered....

My husband and I and another couple spent four delightful days at this very special B&B. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and were sad when it was time to check out. The home is lovely; the location is perfect for sight seeing in the Black Hills; and the two suites are decorated very attractively and are spacious and...

Our stay with Marilyn and Al was wonderful. We had traveled with another couple so rented both spacious suites. The breakfasts were extraordinary and both Marilyn and Al were very helpful in setting up our two day stay in the area as were had never been to South Dakota. The rooms were quaint and both had private, large sitting areas....

We stayed at the Emerald Pines for 4 nights during Bike Rally week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Marilyn and Al were terrific hosts, making all their guests feel right at home. “We stayed in the Finch Haven room upstairs. It's not as large as the Knotty Pine room but it was just the right size for us. We liked the balcony which gave us a nice view and enabled us to see lots of birds up close at the feeders.”
