We stay at the Lantern Inn when we are in Hill City. It's an older motel / inn but it's well maintained, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the owners are pleasant and it's very reasonable. There are coffee and doughnuts available in the office at 7 am if you want one. There is a hot tub and swimming pool... More

We were a bit disappointed in our decision to stay after checking in to the Lantern Inn. I didn't expect luxury but it is very basic, worn and could use some updating. It was clean, and convenient to town, but other than that nothing special.

I usually stay there the first weekend in June for the Crazy Horse walk. I have stayed there for four years and will continue to do so. The rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent, we were happy with our own coffee maker, fridge so that we could bring our own snacks. A barbecue, hot tub, picnic... More

Hill City, South Dakota, mid June for a family reunion. We spent 3 days at the Lantern and loved it. My wife and I and our two oldest granddaughters. I would rate this establishment about 5 "G"s. Great place to stay for a good price when visiting Mt Rushmore. We stayed one night, the owner was very nice and does a great job. He was very friendly and helped us with the area. Less then 10 miles to Mt. Rushmore and close to Custer National Park. We would stay there again if we were in the area.

We stayed here on recommendations from friends. Your close to restaurants, groceries and beer stores all in walking distance. The motel rooms are a throw back to the old style cabins. You can sit on a bench outside your room and enjoy the view. There is a light morning breakfast. It is a clean quaint stay that gives you an... More

The young man who owns/manages this hotel does an incredible job. Very friendly and professional. The room was very clean and the beds were firm and comfy. There was a free breakfast as well with fresh fruits. We will stay here again.

My mom, teenage twin boys, and myself stayed here for one night while visiting Mt. Rushmore. This is a family run place and it was great! The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked! The owner was really nice and it was convenient to several restaurants and only about 10-15 min drive to Mt. Rushmore. I am looking... More

I stayed with my friend for two nights at The Lantern Inn. It was one of the highlights of our trip. It is a nice and simple motel that is clean and comfortable.
