Booked in for a night with friends - very welcoming management and staff, comfortable clean rooms with fantastic outlook onto the river, good evening meal and breakfast - would certainly recommend to others.

A friendly and welcoming local which also offers food and accommodation. We dropped in for dinner and enjoyed very agreeable fare from a comprehensive menu, served promptly and cooked to perfection. The local beer was very good.

Stayed here as was in the area with a large group and their accommodation was full. We also ate here as part of that group. The pub is not a gastropub and neither is it an upmarket boutique hotel. It is a good value pub which serves tasty food in decent sized portions. The beer selection to go alongside the...

Visited on Saturday lunchtime with my family and elderly father.Food was ok but obviously from catering packs and not fresh.lunchtime menu was a little limited. The main gripe I have is the pettyness of the waitress who barked at me for taking another ketchup sachet from a pot on a nearby empty table.Moaned about how she had to fill them up,...

I was due to take a friend out for lunch on Monday28th November. I had planned to go to the Dartbridge Inn at Buckfastleigh where usually the food is excellent, but the recent reviews were so bad decided to try The Abbey instead. What a mistake. It was probably one of the worse meals I have ever had and the...

We visited on a Saturday night and enjoyed a couple of drinks in front of the fire. The pub was very quiet, it might be busier during the day or in the summer but we enjoyed it just the same. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Good value and well located Inn, just off the A38. Ideal for visiting the area's attractions. We visited a number of NT houses such as Greenway, Castle Drogo and Castle Compton and also Paignton, Brixham, and Salcombe, all of which were easily reached within 30mins. The accommodation is very good, clean rooms excellent breakfasts. We also chose to eat there in...

A single night stopover booked by my company between jobs. I guess as a centrally booked traveller I may have not got the best room (Mallard). Food good, beer, St Austell Tribute perfect! I think bits of the place may be a little in need of a refurb but still rather stay in a place like this than a chain....
