We booked for a quiet evening meal for two in the bistro and enjoyed delicious food and wine, but a loud party of 6 at the far end of the room made it hard to converse, due to the hard décor and echo. All in all though, a very pleasant evening. And wonderful desserts!

We love this hotel and have stayed several times. It is particularly good now that the new spa is open. Imagine relaxed lounges with a roaring fire and comfortable, large rooms. However, this time, we did not experience a good night's sleep due to the poor soundproofing in the hotel meaning we could hear EVERYTHING in room upstairs from us...

booked one nights stay for hubbis birthday, took our little dog too. such welcoming staff, lovely room and food in the blue tiger bar was fabulous, loved the fish sharing platter with gorgeous fresh baked 2 tone bread. The spa was calming and beautifully decorated. Loved the little hotel dog , probably as we are also a dashie owner. The...

Quite nice dining room and bar. The hotel reception area and lounge etc had been refurbished and were quite pleasant. Our bedroom, however was very 80s, dark, tired and in need of refurb'. The waiting staff appeared a bit young and inexperienced. Good location for keen walkers The spa and pool area were also nice. Probably wouldn't return.

We have just returned from 2 nights at this hotel. We used to stay here a lot and for various reasons haven't been there for a couple of years but booked it for a birthday celebration and had one night just the 2 of us and a second night with 18 friends. We also had our dog with us. Everything...

First Time visit, marvellous, relaxing, calming & comforting. Warm welcome, delightful room with superb views, very comfortable bed, wonderful old world furniture, clean as a pin. This is a family run hotel in beautiful surroundings, you just know the Hassell Family have been doing this for a long time & have it just right. The staff were so helpful &...

We took advantage of the TQ discount offer for Thursday and add in the fact dogs are welcome and its hard to take a dim view . The hotel is to a very high standard and given the fact we had to go in just there standard double (because of the forementioned pooch) it was excellent. Bed was big and...

We stayed for 3 nights in February and found it hard to find fault. The hotel was comfortable and cozy with fab log fires. The staff were friendly and professional. Our room was lovely, well appointed with a super comfy bed and loads of pillows. My only concern was the shower wasn't the best but it was adequate and we...

Thank you for your lovely review and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Delighted you found our beds comfortable - they are all now new throughout the hotel. I'm not sure which room you had, but we are currently putting in six new bathrooms which will make the rooms even better. We do agree that breakfast...

The hotel was full when we visited which is surprising as it is a bit tucked away in the country. The food is excellent and more than explains why it is so popular. The breakfast is also excellent with the food freshly cooked to order, not the depressing buffet that so many places seem to think is a good idea....

Dear Janner37, Thank you for your review and I am delighted we were a 'surprising find'! Being tucked away and an old building is probably why people do come and stay with us. Having said that, we are only 4 miles from the A38 which makes access good. We appreciate your comments on breakfast as we do strive to make...
