Lovely little pub in the middle of Heddon Valley. Surrounded by unspoilt beauty, this is a lovely spot to drop into after a good walk. Food was enjoyable and service was good. Pub area is dog friendly too.

It's off the beaten track but well worth it when you get there. it's a fabulous 'pub with rooms', the food is very nice, we stayed in Room 1, big enough for two plus our dog. large range of beers in the bar, very attentive staff. Breakfast was lovely. It's in a beautiful part of the country, great for walking...

We booked two nights mid November and should have stayed the xtra night considering where we stayed next. The setting in the valley is stunning, the building, grounds, walk to Heddon Mouth and being in the centre of the better part of Exmoor makes this place worth the visit. The room on top floor was huge, nice view up the...

Character and luxury combine in this romantic and out-of-the-way hotel. There are four-poster beds, and snug rooms, and the food is excellent. Lovers of ale should try the black cat beer (6.6%) named after the legendary puma that is said to roam the moors. A couple of pints of this, and you'll probably see it. The peacocks hang around on...

After a nice walk down to Hebdon's Mouth, came back up the valley to the Hunters' Inn. Staff were very friendly and we were seated by a window overlooking r=the very beautiful woodland gardens and lawn. My wife had the chicken and chorizo pie with great fat fluffy chips and I had the 'award winning' steak mince burger. The burger...

The exterior is charming but the interior looks like it has had a cheap farrow and ball style makeover removing whatever charm the original building had. We went for dinner and were put in a dark corner next to a wall with dirty marks on it and the beige carpet was filthy. Food was a bit bland although service was...

Came here for a walk and food. They booked us a lovely table and our dogs were allowed. It was warm and clean and the staff were attentive. We had the burgers due to the title and weren't surprised they won an award. Very good. Had the brownie and clotted cream too, very good! The place was also busy so...

I recently visited here while out walking over Exmoor. The staff were very polite and the food was good. A great place to stay and dine in the heart of Lorna doone country. Would highly recommend here for a quiet drink or stay over.

After a pleasant walk down to the coast, and back we were hungry, we sat in the large garden at the rear of the Hotel... dog loved the garden. Served very quickly, staff very pleasant, I had a mushroom and goats cheese burger which was a large portobello mushroom with all the trimmings of a deluxe burger and gorgeous fries.

The hotel is very tired and could do with painting both outside and in the rooms. The dinner was very poor. I had chicken, leek and ham pie which arrived at the table within 5 mins of ordering so obviously microwaved. It was a tasteless small parcel of mainly pastry. The chips were excellent. There are far too many dogs...
