We hired both the Grange and the small cottage for a party of fifteen, and spent there a wonderful time. The long building with its succession of rooms has a very distinctive charm, and its furnishing tells about the history of the owner's family. The facilities are extremely flexible and allowed for various activities to start quite spontaneously: playing the...

We hired both buildings for Christmas 2016 for a family holiday. We had been really looking forward to getting together and excited about the property which looked amazing on the website. It is a lot of money for us to find so this was to be a real treat. Sadly it was very disappointing. The buildings are a lot more...

Management response:

Emmett’s Grange is a historic Georgian Manor house situated on the high up on Exmoor and as such is not the easiest place to heat in the middle of December. It is unfortunate that this guest has decided to write such a damning review almost 4 months after their stay at Christmas and whilst there were some issues with the...

Just come back from a lovely stay at Emmetts Grange! Lucy the owner is lovely and can't do enough for you. It's a lovely old building which is so big we didn't even use all the rooms downstairs. The views are breathtaking and being on a working farm you can see all the animals. A group of 14 of us...

Thank you Anna - it was a pleasure to meet you and maybe you will visit this lovely part of the country again. Even if you don't stay with us, you can always pop in and say hello.

It has taken me a long time to write this review (we stayed last Summer 2015 before the spa was added) It is hard to rate this property as I think the issue is that expectations prior to staying are high due to the property's own website (and also the trip advisor reviews) and you are unfortunately left feeling disappointed...

Please ignore the review of September 2015. We have just had a very enjoyable stay at The Linhay. You couldn't meet a more friendly or helpful owner, Lucy! Maybe the cottage is a bit rough around the edges but it is not home from home - it is holiday accommodation and it is very old! The bathroom is modern and...

A very enjoyable weekend, in a fantastic setting. Welcome pack was lovely, property was clean, owner was friendly and welcoming. There were one or two little niggly things about Linhay, but they in no way spoiled the experience. The whole place has a slightly unkempt feel to it, but that is part of its charm and it adds to the...

I am sorry but the Linhay is terrible. The photographs on Emmett's Grange website bear no resemblance to the cottage we arrived at. The online pictures show a cottage that look bright, furnished to a high standard and very welcoming. After a long 9 hour journey, we were greeted firstly by an overgrown, unkempt, rundown estate... The cottage itself was...

We would echo the other reviews about the cleanliness, but if you know that before going, forewarned is forearmed. That was the only negative for us about this place. We stayed in the little cottage, and this is attached (an inside door connections the two) to the cottage the family who own the estate live in, and you can hear...

We have just returned from a long weekend away at Emmett's Grange, we rented both the main house and The Linhay as there was 13 of us, 8 adults and 5 children and don't forget the 3 dogs! The owners are very friendly and let us stay longer then 10am on the last day as no one was coming in....

A group of 13 of us took over the Grange and the Linhay for a week at New Year. We were initially not sure about the fact the family were in a connecting house, however they were great encouraging us to explore and even help ourselves to the eggs in the hen house. They were not phased by the noise...
