On arrival we managed to park right outside the hotel on the roadside, avoiding any car parking fees. The gentleman on the reception was extremely welcoming, both to us and our dog. The room was clean, with all usual facilities, the bathroom was a little dated, but it was a dog friendly room and the dog was very comfortable! Dogs weren't allowed in the dining room but the staff kindly set a table in the lounge area for our breakfast. The breakfast was well cooked and again the staff were excellent. The hotel was a short walk into the town, and an even shorter walk to the sea front and gardens. We would definately staff here again,

Had a night away with a travelzoo offer. Excellent service from the staff from booking in to when we booked out. Food was absolutely excellent in the 1810 restaurant. Weather was horrendous so only a quick look around exmouth, definitely return to both area and the hotel

Have just enjoyed afternoon tea for three people. Had a very nice selection of freshly made sandwiches, beautiful scones with clotted cream and jam finishing with a choice of small cakes. All served with a smile and washed down with unlimited tea or coffee. Well done Royal Beacon and compliments to your chef/kitchen.

My Mum was part of a coach party who stayed at the Hotel for a week from 20th September. She is disabled (but didn't book an accessible room)... initially she was allocated a room a little distant from the Reception and facilities, but the staff, on realising this moved her to another room, just on the first floor but much closer. Each time she wanted to return to her room reception staff immediately went to her assistance, escorting her to her room and ensuring she wanted for nothing. Everyone was extremely friendly and made her holiday a really happy experience. Thank you for looking after her so well.

Our double room stay was on 28th October, 2021. We were on the second floor with excellent views out to sea and across to Dawlish Warren and Starcross. From arrival on 28th to our departure on 29th, we were treated both courteously and professionally. Both our evening meal and full English breakfast was excellently prepared and served. Staff (besides the chef!), who we would mention in despatches are Rob & Christian on reception; and Helen, the Restaurant manageress. The Royal Beacon is 211 years old this year, having a long and illustrious history. It is one of four hotels in The Richardson Group of hotels. We were informed that Mr Richardson, the 82-year-old owner, recently has authorised some conservation works to maintain the Royal Beacon's high standard. We look forward to staying again!
