#2 of 4 in Woolacombe
Travellers' Choice
The Watersmeet hotel located on the quiet edge of Woolacombe is one of Devon's finest coastal hotels. It is perfectly perched on the cliff edge above a quiet, sandy beach known as Combegate beach. All but three of the bedrooms offer spectacular sea views to Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have original wooden balconies where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets. The seaward side of the hotel offers one long, uninterrupted panorama and whether you're reading the paper in the lounge or dining in the restaurant you can enjoy the most wonderful views of the sea and rolling surf. The very best pocket sprung beds; thick, luxurious duvets; crisp white linen and superior memory foam pillows ensure a comfortable night's sleep. The table d'hote and bistro restaurants offer a high standard of cuisine. 2 AA rosette awarded many of the ingredients are locally sourced. On the hotel's doorstep is one of the country's best surfing beaches; a top links golf course. For the ramblers - the hotel could not be better placed with scenic National Trust land that surround the hotel and beautiful coastal footpaths to Morte Point and Lee.

An immaculate, peaceful and luxurious hotel in the most glorious of settings overlooking the beach and the sea. The service was faultless and the breakfast and dinner delicious in the stunning restaurant which has been designed to ensure that all diners have a fabulous view. We can't wait to return!

Helen from Watersmeet has been amazing from the moment my then girlfriend emailed to book an afternoon tea for the day she proposed to me. When we decided to also hold our wedding ceremony here the communication was great and she made it feel easy and stress free. On our wedding day the staff were lovely and friendly and made us feel so comfortable. The ceremony was separated from the rest of the hotel which made it feel intimate and romantic. We also chose to hire out the rocks restaurant to hold our afternoon tea reception in, which wowed the guests with the views. Our wedding party was 9 people with 2 children included and each and everyone had the best time. The food was delicious, they even amended the afternoon tea slightly to include jelly and crisps for the children. The staff were attentive but we were also given the space with our family to celebrate which was appreciated. Helen gave recommendations with a florist and a photographer who were also great. We would recommend Watersmeet whole heartedly from a drink in the bar to holding a wedding here including everything in between. The views are incredible, the staff are amazing, the food is gorgeous and the rooms are beautiful. Thank you Watersmeet for making our day just perfect, we can’t wait to return.

How anyone could ever give this place less than five stars amazes me. It is a fantastic hotel in an amazing location overlooking the sea. The rooms are fantastic, big, clean and well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. I would recommend the rooms with the balcony especially d room 8. Everything in the room was perfect. Great facilities both indoor and outdoor pool as well as a sauna an jacuzzi. Big bonus for the area is ample parking as well. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming. The bar is a great setting again aver looking the sea. The breakfast was top quality as well. The location is ideal for local attractions and areas and well as a short flat walk into wollacombe. This hotel is not cheap however worth every penny.

The Watersmeet Hotel is absolutely immaculate in every way. We opted for a luxury seaview with a balcony (room 10) particularly loved the decor and lack of needless clutter. The attention to detail is evident throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed our midweek stay, cannot wait to come back. I reccomend the omelette with gruyere and sage for breakfast, utterly delicious, perhaps add some tomato and rocket on the side? The terraces are wonderful, the views to die for, comfy lounges and excellent wine list, the chenin blanc was cold and crisp. Nothing else to add. Five stars all the way!!!

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely, friendly hotel in the perfect location. It was a real treat to mark our special occasion with a stay here. When we first arrived we asked if we could move rooms as the sea view we had booked was partly obscured. We were immediately moved to a room on the 2nd floor with a wonderful view across the bay and for the next two nights to the room underneath. The sea view means a lot to us so we were grateful. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were well used although it would have been great if the outdoor pool was open as the weekend weather was warm. Breakfasts were fab and we had a good evening meal in the Bistro. Hopefully we’ll be back.
