The renovation here is beautiful and the inside of the hotel now matches up to the stunning waterfront location on lovely beach and harbour. Checkin was exceptional, with staff bringing up chilled bottle of water as well as a wee flask of fresh milk for teas and coffees. We had two interconnecting rooms, great for our family. Wee en suites but very well appointed with great showers. Breakfast also brilliant, again with lovely friendly service.
Dinner was a bit underwhelming. Service much more patchy. We knew it was pricey but made the mistake of ordering a vegan option which was £16 for a dry couscous salad. Meat options looked tastier. It was a busy evening and food took 45 minutes to arrive. We’d stay again, but will eat elsewhere I think.

We are so pleased that we were able to help your family have a wonderful get together and delighted that you enjoyed your stay enough to leave this lovely review. Thank you for the feedback in regards to our vegan option, I will be passing it on to our chef and hopefully you will give us the opportunity to change your mind next time around. We do hope to see you all again.

A lovely boutique style hotel right on the harbour & beach within Lower Largo
Very friendly reception on arriving and shown to our room and guided through the rooms facilities.
Our room, 3, was comfortable and obviously refurbished and benefitted from having two windows.
Tea and coffee facilities with a Nespresso machine. You should be offed fresh milk which is kept within an insulated bottled. The Tunnocks Teacakes are a nice touch.
Nice shower and bathroom.
The views over the beach and Firth of Forth are fantastic.
6 of us dined in the restaurant eating from a more than acceptable menu.
Service could be a wee bit haphazard but we just looked on it as quirky, and enjoyed our food and wine.
Breakfast is as expected again with a great choice of classic breakfast dishes.
Looking forward to having an excuse to return. (Try room 1 with a small balcony overlong the beach)

My fiancée and I stayed 2 nights in the Suite just before Christmas, accompanied by our two dogs. Firstly, the welcome was so warm - we even received a hand-written welcome note in the room. Every member of staff that we met was super friendly, warm and very personable. The room is beautiful, being recently renovated, with fantastic dual aspect sea views from bed, bath and balcony.

The shower was spacious, powerful and modern. The roll top bath next to the window and beside the bed is a very special feature.

We both love our food, and both breakfast and dinner were great. The steak and lamb rump were tender, delicious and perfectly cooked; this is exquisite food. I also really enjoyed the Crusoe lager, which is packed with flavour.

The hotel is directly beside the beach, making it fantastic for walks with the dogs. When one of our dogs fell ill, the staff went above and beyond to help us with details of local vets, even cooking up some plain rice for her. The service has been amazing.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend The Crusoe and this will now be a regular pitstop for us on our way North from the South Coast of England.

The hotel/restaurant is in a lovely location but is terribly dated and feels like something out of the 70's. It is dark and gloomy inside and needs an overhaul. Fresh paint and please hide the electric wires poking out of the wall!
Visited for a lunch to find a very restricted menu so choose the "meal deal" of soup and sandwich at £12. The soup was mediocre and the toasted sandwich was cold with the lettuce well past its use date as every end pieces were brown! Unacceptable as it felt like yesterdays salad left overs. And £12 for a 'meal deal'? I don't think so!!
Service ok with staff pleasant but a bit disorganised
I would certainly not return

Along with our 7 year old grand daughter and dog my wife and I had a lovely early evening meal.
Staff were attentive and made sure our little guests were well looked after. Ample main course portions were served to the three of us with just enough room left for some mouth watering desserts.
Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive.
Food is a tad on the pricey side but surroundings and quality of the food were worth it.
Definitely be back for more

Seated outside was a bit breezy but tolerable and the tea and coffee came quickly but the food took a further 20 minutes which meant the drinks were stone cold. Now the fish and chips were fine but I had ordered cod goujons but chose not to question it as we were just happy it had arrived. I offered a tip when the bill came to be informed that a service charge had been added anyway but left a tip anyway. Another thing was the very shallow and thick coffee cup is such a con at £2.80p. So can only agree with other comments here, should have been better.

We visited here in October for a family celebration to see how it was fairing under the new owners. The first issue was the lack of parking. What used to be parking is now an outdoor seating area. The local streets are narrow with very little space, prepare to walk a LONG way if eating here not ideal if you're disabled.

We were shown to our table promptly and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The general ambiance is nice and there's plenty of choice on the menu.

The menu is on the expensive side, but the main courses were excellent in terms of quality and quantity. Two of us had starters of scallops, which consisted of 3 scallops and cost £10. Although nicely arranged in a line, it felt a bit "light". Another ordered pigeon breast and it was similarly lacking in actual food.

Like the starters, the desserts were light on content whilst high on cost.

None of the prices were a surprise as they helpfully publish their prices on the website, so kudos for some level of transparency.

In summary, upsides: nice place, good staff, tasty food. Downsides: No parking, might leave feeling food is presentation over quantity. Much, much better than pub grub, but perhaps aiming at higher end cuisine in a pub setting.

First time in the Crusoe since it changed hands earlier this year.First thing I noticed was you can't park at the Hotel, you have to drive along Main Street and hope to find a space, not the best of starts. We were shown inside and took a table looking out onto the pier. Our order was taken promptly and drinks arrived soon after.Well,40 mins later I asked the waiter if he could check what the hold up was.He returned with an apology, but no reason given why we were still waiting.Shortly after the food did arrive and very good it was as well, chicken pie, hot, moist and tasty,my steak sandwich had plenty tender flavoursome steak inside it,but the onions were advertised as caramelised, and were only sauted,no problem, still very tasty..When the plates were getting cleared, the front of house manageress, told us we could have desserts and coffee on the house as we had waited so long.It was just a shame that the said desserts were not very good and I would have had a conversation around that point had they not been pro gratis. The brownies were hard and tasteless and my honeycake could have acted as a doorstop. So,how to rate our visit? The staff are quite new to this industry, and that shows (I have never seen a waiter sitting down at a table to clear and re-set it) I'll cut it some slack this time, and return in a couple of months to see if the opening problems have been ironed out.Staff were polite at all times, but looked as though they needed leadership whilst they learn this trade.

For us, it was about the location, sits right on the beach and the windows in the room open right up to allow you to take in the whole beach area...fantastic view.
If you're looking for a relaxing few days then this is the place, very peaceful and ideal for a good walk. If you want to venture further up and down the Fife coast there's a bus stop across the road from the hotel...ideal.
Apart from the amazing view, the room has everything you need including a Krups pod coffee machine and a Bose bluetooth music player, very large comfortable bed, walk in drench shower. Lighting is excellent with the small flexible reading light.
Food was exceptional, with a large breakfast, cooked to perfection.
Evening meals were fantastic, we had for starters, beetroot infused salmon and cullen skink, for our main, we had grilled chicken and seabass, absolutely delicious. To compliment the meals, the service from the staff was very impressive, they couldn't do enough for you, tended to your every need.
We will definitely return to this hotel.

We booked a week here back in March. We knew building work had just been completed on 7 en-suite rooms. We didn’t realise that building work was still in progress. When we arrived we were disappointed to find there wasn’t anywhere to park when we needed to unload the car plus our dog. We managed to squeeze past some people sitting out having a drink. The guy who showed us to our room said we’d have to move to another room after two days as someone else would be staying there & needed the interconnecting rooms. I was furious as when I booked back in March our booking was the first after the renovations had been finished & I stipulated at the time I wanted the room for a week. Anyway it got sorted thanks to Laura & the rooms are all lovely high spec. Beautiful views out of the bedroom windows & the sea lulls you to sleep. Beds so comfy & our room was very soundproof . We parked our car in the street & there is also a free car park in walking distance. The food was lovely. Generally the staff were friendly & Laura was extremely helpful & went the extra mile. It’s a shame we got off to a disappointing start & the guy who we initially saw wasn’t more personable. Overall it was a lovely week but probably 2-3 nights there would have been adequate. The hotel should have finished all work by the end of June so there will be more rooms but be aware parking is limited here. When the tide is in need to walk dogs elsewhere which means getting in your car. Lovely places nearby to visit. Staff at hotel are very dog friendly.
