Room was damp and dirty. Sheets were dirty. No hot water, toilet didn't flush. Whole place smells damp and unclean, cobwebs everywhere. Food awful. Staff unhelpful and aggressive and rude when you complain.

I booked 2 nights at this hotel through Booking.com and was I ripped off
I paid 2 nights B and B as I was visiting Glasgow with my son to watch the Commonwealth Games which was a total price of £340 for the 2 nights . I expected to pay more than the going rate because the hotel professionals seem to think that they can use events that attract people to hike up prices to astronomical levels.
When we arrived the room we were shown to costing £170 per night was small and dingy with peeling paintwork and a rusty bath . The window that was cracked in a previous review in Nov 2013 was still cracked the decor was that of outdated very elderly relatives room and it was dirty.
Not to the standard of a £30 a night room never mind £170
The furniture was battered and dated(not in a good way) and our bedroom door was a bit of rough old wood. There was a patch of rust that had been painted over in the bath.
There were no towels and when I asked for some I was told I would have to wait as they were in the tumble dryer.
The food was ok. It the dining room was dingy
When I complained to booking.com who referred it to the manager he called me a liar so dear trip advisor please take note and do not check in here especially through booking . Com otherwise you to will be ripped off even at £49 a night this is overpriced and a rip off try Premier Inn instead.

I came here for a Christmas lunch with my mum through a Groupon deal. It was awful....cold soup...hard potatoes...tasteless gravy and soggy strudel. When the waitress brought our coffee she seemed bemused at our request for a spoon and sugar! There were cobwebs all over the windows and it was so cold we had to sit at a table next to a radiator. The chap who was sweeping leaves outside as we arrived was also cooking our food. It stank of damp and the doors in the toilets dont even close properly. Everything seemed
to be falling apart. It could be good with some serious investment or if Gordon Ramsey turned up with his team!!!

Had my wedding reception here last night and I can honestly say it was the worst night of my life.
Toilets had no toilet roll, the floors were uneven, there was sick in the gents from the night before.
There was no lights outside for people who smoke. The hall was disgusting and there was still food on the floor from the function the night previous. (Which by the way is still there as I have just been to the hotel to pick up my stuff which was binned.) The owers have no respect for that hotel and have run it right into the ground.
Its smells like damp and is very dirty. The floors had been "cleaned" yet there was no wet floor signs and the floor was asbolutely disgusting.

There was also a fight that broke out (too much drink) and the staff left it to the guests to deal with it. I had to phone the police myself!!!

I did not pay £200 for use of your hotel with added sick and food from the night before.
I will be at that hotel everyday until I get my money back and I mean it.

Dive of a hotel.

After finding no rooms at the Premier Travel Inn we headed into Motherwell and passed a sign pointing to the Old Mill Hotel. We circled back and followed the signs to the most beautiful and peaceful place we stayed during our 2 week trip motoring through Scotland. Located on a flowing stream, the hotel is a converted mill, with the old machinery visible in the bar. The owners were friendly and helpful, the room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and overlooked a patio with flowers and a covered arbor. The hotel is self contained with restarant and bar.
We paid about 60 pounds for 2 of us and that included a full breakfast. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

We never even made it to the Old Mill Hotel - the day after I had booked a room
( luckily through a well known booking site) I had to cancel as our ferry times to the Outer Hebrides changed meaning we had to be further north.
The hotel charged me the full amount for the room - for a booking made 6 months in advance - and then refused to refund my money. They were obstructive and unhelpful on the telephone.
I have now been refunded by the booking company (6 weeks later)

Due to a friends' family member being taken extremely unwell, I had to seek alternative accommodation for a weeks stay in Scotland and in a hurry! as it was an unexpected expense and being so close to Christmas, I decided to seek the cheapest accommodation and book it, here at the Watermill hotel Motherwell aka The Old Mill hotel Motherwell.
Post booking, I checked tripadvisor and was shocked by some quite vitriolic reviews, however, sticking to my budget, I continued with my plans.
Having arrived at the hotel, I was pleasantly greeted by Andy, hotel manager, handed the key and shown to my room, it had a comfortable bed, a clean shower/bathroom and toilet, plenty of clean towels and plenty of warmth from the radiator.
In addition, My room had TV; tea and coffee making facilities, plus a beautiful view overlooking the falls of Calder, the flow of the water was soothing and relaxing and helped me enjoy a great nights sleep 😊

In the morning I had a nice cooked breakfast, bacon, egg, sausage, beans; with toast, tea and orange juice.

Could I pick fault?... any issues I had were dealt with promptly and courteously, and were minor and superficial in nature, So I'm pleased to say No ☺

The proprietors are aware of the benefits a cash injection might bring to the hotel, but like so many of us, are doing well just to get by in the current economic climate.
Put in terms, the Watermill/Old Mill Hotel Motherwell is to hotels as what Truckstops are to the motorway, GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY, COMFORTABLE AND ULTIMATELY SATISFYING, and despite other less objective reviews...
I'll be more than happy to stay here again. ☺

I must say , The Old Mill Hotel may have been good in it's time but unfortunately the new owners have run the place into the ground , The place is a mess the bathrooms are falling to bits and it's really dirty , I was there for a wedding reception and it was the worst! One member of staff to do everything , He was amazing truly did do his best to keep everyone happy but unfortunately that just wasn't enough .. the place was still dirty from the night before and the service was horrible ( Excluding that one member of staff Gary Irvine , Truly put his heart and soul into the function , Thanks for everything! ). Personally I think if your going to book any form of function i.e Wedding receptions , Do avoid the Old Mill Hotel.

Entered 'reception'. This was dirty, smelt of damp and had lots of debris lying around.
Told to go outside and enter via another door, pointed in direction of rooms. There was very little tread on the carpet, the walls were dirty and there a bad smell of damp and stale smoke.
The room - bed uncomfortable, headboard broken, generally in need of a clean and decoration.
The bathroom - toilet water ran continually, hot tap fitting turned but didn't give water.
Had to go to reception to ask for wifi code.
Decided after 1/2 hour that this room wasn't acceptable at the price.
Spoke to the owner who became aggressive and even followed me the car park still 'ranting'. He then questioned me about my hotel, and said he would be calling there to find out who I was and complain about my attitude. Also asked why if I had a hotel was I staying somewhere else; it's 90 miles away.
He said that I was negative and rude from the minute I walked in - have a look and maybe it's no wonder.
As a hotelier, it pains me to write this but please please check the reviews before you book; I didn't and have now moved to another hotel. All the reviews cannot be wrong.

This is the worst hotel I've ever seen. A family member booked a surprise visit to stay near us and if they'd told me from local knowledge I'd have said avoid as already heard bad things. The good thing was the nearby waterfall, but the rooms are dated and she was asked to leave early because the owner had an appointment yet she was booked 2 days. I don't know why anyone would stay here when nearby are so many nicer places! The lady who welcomed her was friendly but thats the only good thing.
