The hotel is an interesting old building that looks its age. There was a pervasive odor of mold. We had a room in the front of the hotel with a great view of the harbour, but also above the hotel's bar that had a loud brawl our first night. The rooms were small, beds uncomfortable and the bathrooms decidedly from...

Stayed here in August 2016, overall very tired and in need of refurbishment urgently. Breakfast was good but again the hotel needs new in all areas. Rooms and bathrooms look to be at least 20 years old

From the outside, the hotel does look special. In a prominent position overlooking the harbour. The room I stayed in (2) was large fitted with a double and a single bed, sofa and overlooking the harbour. The bathroom was fitted out with a wet room including hand rails. Advertised as having WiFi but could connect to it. This is a...

We were in Stromness and needed a lunch. There is definitely not much choice in the town! Decided to try the Stromness Hotel as we haven't eaten there for many years. The place was as we remembered it - old fashioned and felt a little dingy. Food adequate but seemed a little pricey for what we got. It served our...

The hotel was basically fine, but they really need to invest in new mattresses. Ours felt about 20 years old. It was like sleeping on a pile of old newspapers wrapped in a burlap sack. Other than that, the hotel was charmingly un-modern. Nice staff. Great location near the ferry

We arrived Friday night for an early dinner without reservations and were warmly received and seated. Both of us ordered filet steaks with a Highland Park Whiskey Sauce. Mouth -watering good and very tasty! Our experience was excellent and we recommended to our B & B guests who dined there on Sunday and agreed that the steaks were delicious but...

We were booked into the Stromness Hotel as part of a package tour. Given we came in the busiest weekend of the year, we could only get a twin room with a bath - and despite a reasonable view, I have to say I was disappointed with the room - bathroom was poor, decor tired, wifi rubbish (which is important...

Went to the Stromness Hotel with a friend from Orkney for dinner. The menu is good, the food tasty and the prices reasonable. We arrived early without a reservation and managed to get a table. The food came quickly and the service was very good. We did feel a little rushed because they were keen to free the table for...

I was booked to perform for 2 days of Stromness Shopping Week (as a side note, you should visit when this is on its amazing). Anyway, I was put up in the Stromness Hotel and the staff here are just lovely. Friendly and super helpful without being in your pockets 24/7. Nothing is too much trouble. Yet they respect your...

Visiting stromness for 1 night on business, hotel run down, rooms dated and wifi doesn't work in half the hotel. Tv in room is very very small. Hotel could be made into a gem if there was some investment made but would only stay here as a last resort.
