The hotel is in the very centre of Stromness and you view the comings and goings of the harbour from the lounge bar and restaurant. The accommodation is clean but a little tired although fair value for money. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

We had tea here after a trip to Hoy, food was good pub grub. The curry was fab, and the lamb chops sizeable. The local serving staff were helpful. I can understand that some people won't like this hotel, the decor is a little old fashioned. To me, that's part of the charm of visiting a remote Scottish island, it's...

The Stromness Hotel is friendly, welcoming and has a great first floor bar lounge overlooking the harbour. The restaurant produces a good range of simple but good dishes. Downstairs is the Flattie bar with a fire on the go even in August its a lively local bar and again very friendly. As for the hotel itself and its rooms of...

I booked a double room with sea views never having stayed in Stromness before but had visited I decided that since the hotel was in a great location overlooking the harbour I would book this one. Nice to watch the boats coming and going. On arrival reception is actually on the second floor. It's the first time I have encountered...

No pretentions. Charming and a little Victorian. Everything worked, the hot water was hot, the cold water was cold (more than I can say about some 4 star hotels recently) Breakfast was complete--hot and cold buffets. The location can't be beat. Beautiful view of the harbor and right at the ferry. Only quibble was that Wi-Fi worked only right in...

Stayed here for a week while on a walking holiday. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Room was a good size, with a walk-in wardrobe. The bathroom was very small, but adequate . Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice. Evening meal was a set meal, with limited choices. It was very well cooked, but would have been better if...

An old fashioned hotel with a busy restaurant. Decor is old and interesting. Young staff very welcoming and friendly. The food is in keeping with the hotel. Enjoyable but not overly exciting. Stromness is an interesting place to visit and this hotel certainly adds to the ambience of the place

Absolutely wonderful staff especially in the dining room. Polite helpful and obliging. Very good food and excellent breakfast. Very nice large and clean bedroom with harbour view. Toiletries very scanty. HOWEVER I Had a really hard time to go in and out as I broke my leg few days before my holiday. This hotel is totally unsuitable for anyone with...

Within very easy walking distance of the ferry pier from Scrabster the hotel can actually be seen coming down the gangplank so impossible to get lost. The hotel looks really good from the outside and looks a bit old fashioned when entering and is but in a good way. Check in was exceptionally friendly and efficient. As the restaurant was...

Needs some attention all round. There are few accommodation options in Stromness. Looks great from the outside. We reported our concerns to the staff and our review with them was helpful. We stayed in room 22 which is top right in picture and has a great view of harbour.
