Just back from a great meal. Reasonably priced and very tasty. As ever, friendly service and a warm welcome. Would heartily recommend, whether you're visiting or a local that's not been for a while. It's good having somewhere like this on your doorstep.

Had. A truly wonderful evening with 20 members of the family to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. Gina did us proud, nothing was too much trouble and everything was as requested. The food was well cooked and tasty especially the scallops and the roast venison. We had three small children with us and their needs were catered to with patience...

Dining on freshly caught scallops and fish pie in this homely hotel was the perfect end to a super day walking. The public bar area was lovely and cosy and the food and wine was really superb. As visitors to Orkney looking for some great walking the barmaid and some of the customers couldn't have been more helpful and friendly...

My husband and I stayed in this small pub 25 years ago, and two friends and I booked rooms in this Pub/Hotel for three nights in September. It had been fully renovated since my previous visit, but was still charming and great fun. Locals filled the Pub, chatting, playing snooker and darts, and made us feel very welcome. A charming...

7 of my friends and I went for a celebratory meal here, and I had scallops. These were as fresh as can be, and cooked to succulent perfection. Served with a lovely leafy dressed salad and crispy chips, following a successful starters of deep fried Orkney Grimbister cheese meant that there was sadly no room for dessert! The service was...

Hi there Thank you for your kind review, we love the fact that most reviews are about the scallops. We flash fry them in garlic butter and let the freshness do the talking. I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, It means a lot to us when someone takes the time to write a review for us, so thank you very...

The hotel is part of a pub and has a relaxed atmosphere - small but clean and comfortable. One problem was thast the restaurant closed at 9pm which was bad timing for the ferry arrival - but, then, most of the town seemed closed around that time. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the place had a welcoming atmosphere.

Hello Gerry Thanks for your review, I'm glad you found us friendly and helpful. Indeed most places close the kitchen at 9pm or earlier in Orkney, but we understand that this does not leave much time for folk coming off the last ferry to get booked into their accommodation and get down here for an evening meal so this is...

Hi Julie I'm glad you enjoyed your meals here, as it is our first season we are still finding our feet with presentation etc, i am however horrified that there was hair in your food. As kitchen staff all have their hair tied up I can only assume this would be my hair when delivering the food to your table....

Stayed 2 nights, one of them a Saturday. The bar was lively, full of locals, very friendly. Our room was the triple bedded room. Good shower, comfortable beds, good blackout blinds for long daylight hours. Excellent breakfast (scrambled eggs with local smoked salmon). Good value, convenient for Pentland ferries.
