We booked the Popinjay hotel as a break between travelling from the Highlands back to our home. The website looked great and we were looking forward to getting there and relaxing! On arrival and on seeing our room it was far far different from what is advertised on the website! The rooms are very dated, stained carpets, smelt fusty and...

My partner and I had a night off from the kids so we decided to book a room in the Popinjay as a treat to relax and chill out away from home. Receptionist was lovely, attentive and helpful at check in and we were told we were in room 6. When we got to the room my partner went to...

For the purpose of balance my mum and I have used and enjoyed the popinjay restaurant and spa several times and have never been disappointed however today was a different story ... service in the restaurant was good however the meal was disappointing but nothing I would complain about. The spa was as usual very welcoming and the therapists friendly...

Visited today as haven't been in a long while , was very disappointed!! On arriving at 1pm we were shown to our table in the restaurant which we were shocked to find it filthy looking , cutlery on table was dirty and there was glasses on the table which had particles of food inside you'd almost think someone had used...

From the moment we arrived the service was very poor. Hotel is lovely but the staff need better training. Wheelchair access very poor ramp was not sturdy a day felt unsafe. Lack of communication throughout our stay. Food was very nice just slow service. Ordered a cocktail but we were very ill afterwards I think the juice may have been...

Stayed three days with my wife on a great deal so crossed fingers but need not have worried from the minute we entered the customer service was as good as I've had. The room was lovely with a view over the garden to the river Clyde. Huge bed and good bath/ shower. The food and service in the restaurant was...

My husband and I stayed for a 3 night special deal. We had a lovely room, the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Staff were really helpful and friendly. We used the spa facilities each day at no extra charge and it was great. Food was nice but a couple of my evening main meals weren't really nice. On the whole...

On business trip, 21/3/17, hotel was ok, but had problems with hot water at night, should have mentioned to reception then, next morning no hot water, no shower no bath shaved via assistance from kettle.... When paying bill £308.. Two rooms food and drinks, told reception about no hot water, got nowhere, as if it were a normal 'fault'. Never...

Recently stayed at the Popinjay and again we had a very enjoyable time. The staff were very courteous and extremely helpful. Our room (twin number 12) was quite small but very comfortable and cleaning staff were in every day. Used the pool, sauna and jacuzzi every day - very relaxing and most enjoyable. The staff in the restaurant were first...

Three of us were here for lunch. We each picked a main course and a soft drink. The food was tasty and there was plenty of choice. We finished the meal with lattes. The total bill was under 40 pounds. I particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere. The service was good but we did not feel rushed in any way.
