Well where do I begin? Nice entrance but booked in for 2-30 arrived at 2-20 asked to sit in lounge as table not ready? Ok got into lounge live singer on but she was ok but loud. Ordered drink by shouting then waiting staff moved us through to almost empty dining area where we ordered food. 2 of our party...

I popped in to the bar at the Royal Hotel with friends whilst on an evening out. On walking to the bar I was ignored by the gathering of staff behind the bar. On asking for service I was eventually told it was table service only. We took a seat and were once again ignored by the small number of...

Given its recent extensive renovation we went for pre dinner drinks on the sun terrace with a party of friends. We were certainly given sufficient time to appreciate the beautiful refurbishments. Although not very busy the organisation and management seemed chaotic resulting in a forty minute wait for drinks, which we never actually got. The staff attitude appeared very casual...

We had our wedding reception at the Royal 15 years ago. Although we are local, we decided it would be lovely to stay over and have our dinner in the hotel especially as the newly refurbished restaurant and bar only opened a few days ago. Our room was beautiful and there was a bottle of prosecco and chocolate coated strawberries...

I tend to not look at reviews before I try a place as it would most definitely put me off. We didn't eat but popped in for coffee and cake on a quiet Monday afternoon, the girl in the bar who served us was lovely and attentive and seemed knowledgeable about the products on offer. The bar and restaurant area...

Booked this hotel thinking it was going to be nice, the pictures on their website are deceiving.. got there, the room was old and dated. The bathroom was green, the window in the bathroom was not frosted and only had a curtain. The shower was falling apart, the knob to turn the shower on fell off in my hands and...

Went for an afternoon tea. Very busy sunny day with lots of people sitting outside. Service was a bit slow and the champagne we had asked for when making the booking we were told they did not have it. As the hotel had just recently opened I am sure their staff will receive further training regards customer service in the...

First impressions are good, but, whilst staying there it becomes clear that those impressions are merely superficial. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment whilst I was there, but no amount of refurbishment is going to get rid of the insanely annoying squeak of the old floorboards everywhere! They should have addressed that. Also, unless you are at the rear of the...

Under new management and they have put a lot of money into it. Very modern decor chandelier in entrance is stunning. We had a coffee and a marshmallow meringue with fresh strawberries, small but delicious. Definitely worth a visit as it has a lovely decking front and back. Great venue for a summer wedding.
