Stayed at hotel for a few days in connection with a work visit top Islay. The hotel is very dated and colleagues staying other places in Port Ellen had something much nicer. The room I was in was OK but everything else in dire need of renovation. Breakfast is a full Scottish breakfast but very dull - tomatoes and beans...

In need of a touch of renovation, but fairly clean, and friendly enough staff. Great setting and a beautiful building. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Fried tinned tomatoes and sausages that tasted mainly of flour. Bacon tasted as if it had been steamed rather than fried. Eggs and black pudding well prepared and tasty, though.

The title pretty much sums it up. Went in to the hotel for a quick drink and use the wi-fi. The staff member behind the bar was disinterested and it seemed like too much trouble to serve drinks. She rolled her eyes when we first came in, gave one word answers to questions such as 'do you have wi-fi'. I...

Do not go by by previous reviews. They are renovating all the rooms. The White Hart is located within a 2 min drive from the ferry or a 5 minute walk. Islay suffers from a severe lack of accommodation and one has to often take what you can get. I must admit when I popped into the pub first I...

Upon arrival at the hotel we were told that evening meals could not be provided as the kitchen staff had gone down with a bug. The hotel was second rate, very dingy with a rowdy bar and pool room (either as part of or adjacent too the hotel). The bedroom was tiny - not enough room for even one bedside...

Old, clean hotel well preserved and partially renovated. Our room was good and with all facilities. Old nice restaurant and the food was good. The hotel is situated at the edge of the small town. About 300 m to the ferry. The three famous distilleries, Ardbeg, Lagavullin and Laphroig is not far away. There is a very good track the...

Budget hotel that looks like it was last decorated in the 80's, that said the hotel owners seem to be upgrading some of the rooms. The bar can be very noisy .. so I recommend a room not above the bar. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was acceptable.. would recommend if you are looking for a budget hotel... but...

We stayd here i July 2015 and I will not recomend it. Every thing was worn down and the staff was not very kind. When we should leave we waited 20 minutes before one of the staff came to check us out. A terrible worn down hotel!

My wife and I spent three nights here in June 2015. The hotel seems to have been last redecorated around 1990 and badly needs refurbishment. The attitude of the staff was "take it or leave it". Hotels on Islay do not have to struggle to attract customers; it's a popular holiday destination. Our experience of visiting other hotels on the...
