Skye Backpackers Hostel in located in the small town of Kyleakin. The whole town is just two parallel streets about a mile long, right along the oceanfront and very quaint. Our hostel, Skye Backpackers, was right in the middle and looked pretty decent. They apparently now have an additional building, closer to the ocean, but we stayed in the main...

We booked this as everything else on the net was taken, although there are many good hostels on Skye that just aren't listed on bookin.com, which would have been better options. Positives: - some staff were great (the scottish guy with long hair, for eg.) - Very social place - Cheapish - Well equipped kitchen Negatives: - We got put...

After getting our reservation cancelled at Skyewalker Hostel because they close at 9pm, we were able to get reservations at this hostel. I may be biased because we were on a course to sleeping in our car, but this place is great! The staff was friendly, the people were nice, there was a cheap breakfast in the mornings, and a...

I stayed at Skye Backpackers while on a solo trip, and used it and Kyleakin as my base camp from which to explore Skye. Kyleakin is a small village just on the other side of the Skye Bridge from the mainland. There are a few restaurants and bars and a convenience store of sorts, but it's quite small. The views...

A nice little hostel. Fully equipped kitchen. Breakfast offered for individual prices rather than set price which is good. Dorm cosy warm, with sink and nice view. Bunk mattresses are thin, but i think Id been spoilt in last two hostels. Main negative - wifi only in kitchen/dining. Very sketchy in lounge and not available at all in dorms. Again,...

Staff were friendly and helpful, which counts for a lot in my book. Always keen to offer advice on our roadtrip and the best spots for a drive. I was also glad to know they offer mixed dorms, as they seem to be one of the only companies in the UK offering such. Good value for money in my opinion,...

Stayed here a night because I got locked out my own place. I never thought how fun it would be! Jess was an angel! She manages the place, and all the staff were friendly and funny. A lot better than most places I've been, it wasn't just a bed for the night but great Craic and a great experience. I'll...

I went on the 3-day tour with MacBackpackers and we stayed at this hostel. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean, the breakfast was adequate with a decent, standard selection, and the location was within a short walking distance of the water. There was a good restaurant and nice bar next door, very very convenient. All in all, it was...

We went in Isle of Skye in the end of February, It was really cold, but I liked te Isle, so we booked here for one night, I think that this is the worse place where I slept! Ok, it's really cheap, but we were eight people in one caravan, I think that was a very strong experience!

Had a good night's stay at the hostel. All areas were very clean. There weren't lockers in the rooms. There's a decent sized kitchen and dining area and a separate lounge area. A little difficult to track down driving in at night, there's no address that one can enter on the GPS, just follow the directions on their website. Staff...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Isle of Skye is situated on the west coast of mainland Scotland, and is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides. One of Europe's most dramatic and haunting lands, words can do little justice to describe Skye's awesome beauty. You simply have to see it for yourselves. Skye Backpackers sits in the picturesque fishing village of Kyleakin, skirted by mountains and sea. It's a small, cosy and friendly hostel with loads of character and great staff who are committed to ensuring you make the most of your time on the island. Our accommodation is comprised of 2 Double Rooms, 1 Twin Room, 1 Triple Room & 5 Dorm rooms that vary in size between 4-8 beds per room. We also have 2 caravans in our garden which can accommodate up to 20 people. All of our beds come complete with full bed linen and 2 pillows so there is no need to bring your sleeping bag. We have a great fully equipped self catering kitchen, a sunny dining area and the famous Groove Lounge with a real coal fire, loads of books and games and spectacular seaside views. Take some time to explore the island's haunted castle ruins; feel the mysterious presence of the legendary faeries in tranquil glens, waterfalls and mountain pools; visit whiskey distilleries and sample local beers and ales; take a relaxing stroll through the countryside or boldly ascend a mighty mountain. There’s plenty to see and do around the Isle of Skye so come and ask us for ideas – we’re a friendly bunch! We will give you all of our ‘Top Tips’ on our fantastic island and will even give you a FREE MAP. Possibly the BEST way to explore Skye is onboard our magical, mystical day tour with MacBackpackers. You can experience all of the best parts, learn all about the history & mythology and even hike up the dramatic hills for amazing views. Day tours start & finish from our hostel, cost £29 and can be booked at reception.(subject to availability) There are endless Cycling, Walking & Kayaking Routes literally on our doorstep. If you have your own bike or kayak with you it can be stored in our shed and we have bike wash facilities in our garden. If the weather catches you out, you can hire a pair of wellies and buy waterproof ponchos from reception. The hostel reception is open from 7am - 12 noon and then from 5pm - 10pm. If you arrive in the afternoon feel free to leave your bags, help yourselves to a cup of tea and we will check you in between 5pm-10pm.
