At £149 for bed and breakfast in a superior room we were expecting at least a view. We got a view , of the car park across the street. There was an empty sweet packet left lying on the floor and not convinced the carpet had been hoovered. On asking to book a table we were told by the young...

Here with a mate walking. Great hotel. Staff were really helpful. Joan at breakfast was so considerate and the breakfast was 5 star. Great shower, clean, comfy bed. All that you need. We ate evening meal and it was good home cooking. So well recommended.

A poor representation of Scottish hospitality - sighing waitresses, school-lunch style food, and surroundings that reminded my Granny of her community bingo hall. The only redeeming feature was a cheap-ish pint.

Our family room at The Royal Hotel was spacious, comfortable & clean. The staff was friendly and attentive -- even the man painting the hallway insisted on helping us carry bags down stairs as we checked out. Would absolutely not hesitate to stay here again!

The hotel is ideally based in the centre of Portree and blessed with a reasonably sized car park - given the tourist pressure and the adjacent car park (pay & display) limited to 4 hours- this an immediate bonus. The hotel offers formal and relaxed dining and offers an excellent breakfast. The rooms are well appointed and ours had a...

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. OK so it's furniture is a bit dated and it comes across as a bit basic. However it is reasonably priced and in the heart of the main street in Portree. We had a very spacious and very clean room with fantastic views over the harbour. Very friendly and helpful staff and a...

excellent space to the room, comfortable sheets on this nice sized bed and I suspect this is one of the best views over the harbour, however the room has seen much better days - especially for the price. There is a lot of history to this hotel, however it should not necessarily be on display to the guests and should...

Booked a ground floor room as BF is injured and paid extra for it. However was not given one! Ended up on the first floor with a great view of the harbour. Asked about restaurants as wanted yo try some local seafood. Was told they were all closed, however found out the next day that one was open. Great traditional...

As an old hotel, its old roots show but the clear attempts to update show through somewhat. I'll start unusually with the plumbing. The shower was incredibly good, powerful and with full control of the temperature; the wash basin however was an old fashioned pair of taps, one hot the other cold; no mixer. I just hate these but at...

I ate in the Well Plaid Restaurant in Portree, Isle of Skye early in February. On this particular mid week night there were few places open and the Well Plaid seemed a reasonable choice. The menu was extensive (not fine dining) but nevertheless constructed to offer a varied range of food at exceptionally reasonable prices. I had Mararoni Cheese which...

The Royal Hotel is based in the centre of Portree on the stunning Island of Skye. Our hotel has offered as a superb base for customers to the area for over a hundred years. We have a selection of over 34 en suite rooms, most of which feature stunning sea views looking on to Portree Bay. We have two restaurants which regularly sell a variety of local produce from Langoustines, Scallops and Fish to Venison and regular Scottish favourites such as Haggis and Mince and Tatties. Our hotel bar "MacNab's Inn" was famously the location where Bonnie Prince Charlie bode farewell to Flora Macdonald before making his way to France escaping the English army.
