With the quiaint charm of a country house hotel it was amazing! We stayed two nights and it was bliss We were in an unrefurbished room and it was still fab! We sat by the fire and read our books service was exceptional! And the food fantastic! A must visit!

Had a wonderful one-night stay in the family suite, which was a perfect set up for our two boys (under 12). Room was reburished to a high standard, including a large jacuzzi bathtub. Evening meal reached culinary excellence, and yet catered easily to the boys' less aspiring needs. Morning breakfast was also well, well above the standard fare, including fresh...

When booking if you cannot book one of their refurbished rooms, stay elsewhere or ask for a big reduction in room rate. Our friends stayed in newly refurbished room and that looked lovely for the same rate we paid. Reception did say if we can back again they would give us a reduction, but too late for us as we...

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking time to review the hotel. Your group had a special rate for attending a wedding. This rate is normally for a standard room. You mentioned that the room was tired. I feel this is unfair as all the antique furniture has been french polished, the room repapered and ceiling painted in the past 4...

A hotel only for hardcore fans of English charm, dusty, obscure, with light switches and bathroom appliances that do not work, ups and downs of murky corridors, and the slum-like appearance of the service area behind the hotel in plain view when parking the car. But: the location is great, the front garden very nice, the view over the lake...

I went here for my 50th birthday. My friend and I had always wanted to return to the west coast of Scotland after a charity bike ride some years ago and decided to go for a luxury trip. The hotel is stunning and every little touch has been thought of. The room was beautiful. It wasn't huge but the bathroom...

This was our 2nd stay here. Yes, the Hotel is far away from civilization. But this is the important thing, you should know! The building is old and could need some renovation outside. But honestly, this is not important. It is more important that you are a bit out of civilization. It is more important to open your mind for...

Interesting old collection of buildings linked by more modern sections give a quirky and unusually charming ambience. Together with the stunning situation and superb food made for an altogether excellent stay. The restaurant offers a set menu with an opportunity earlier to change elements if required. The food uses local ingredients, including unusual 'roadside' herbs and was both innovative and...

Well we stayed here in August (I have only just got the chance to post) having booked two double rooms with my wife and children, to be put into one room with one extra fold out bed (almost touching the floor as was that broken)! To be later told by a rude woman at reception in her late 50's who...

Dear Bobthebuildermothing, Please accept my sincerest apologies that we have fallen short of expectation. There looks to be some confusion as to the room type booked and one of my first jobs here at the hotel was to adjust room types to be more flexible with the business. We have also reviewed our food and beverage offering in the hotel...

The location is remote excellent if you want a relaxing break or holiday overlooking the loch. In need of refurbishment over priced no where else to eat nearest 12 miles away. Found mould on walls and carpets. Sorry cannot recommend although other visitors have posted very different reviews.

This was the one of several hotels we were booked at by a travel/tour company for an 8-day visit to Scotland and it was the only one that disappointed us. As we made our way down the only way to reach this remote location (a seven-mile single track road) we were hopeful because the 2016 Fodor guidebook had given it...

Dear Merrily B Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately you arrived as the hotel started refurbishment works. The decision was then taken to close the hotel while this was completed. Please accept my apologies that this affected your stay. The difference in the rooms will most likely be in the room type that you booked. As each of our bedrooms...
