We hadn't visit for some time and fancied a couple of pints of real ale, managed four in the end. Beer very good, food was plentiful and of good quality, unfortunately we didn't have space for desert, so will have to be back soon. Great atmosphere, nice warm stove and great to see lots of customers.

A fabulous 2 night stay at this family run hotel. The staff couldn't do enough to make us feel very welcome and at home. The locals were amiable and entertaining! We ate breakfast and evening meal both days and the standard of the food and service was outstanding. We will definitely recommend The Blue Peter to our friends and extended... More

Hotel was closed at the time we had previously agreed we would arrive to get ready for a wedding nearby, despite the owner saying our early arrival wouldn't be a problem when I made the booking well in advance. When we eventually got in an hour and a half later and then on the last minute, we were made to... More

We have eaten 3 meals from Blue Peter during our stay at the nearby Corsewall Estate. Fish and chips twice - very good but am posting because the meal which 5 of us ate in at the Hotel was fantastic - home cooked, good large meals, quality of meat was excellent, all beautifully cooked, and inexpensive - the best meal... We spent three nights in hotel, excellent home cooked food and good ale, owners and staff were also excellent. A good base for exploring the Dumfries and Galloway area, the locals were also friendly and we had a god time at the quiz night. The only reason for not giving five stars is because of the size of the on-suite,... More

We were travelling to belfast, and stopped en route and also on the leg back. We arrived on a Monday when the hotel was closed and late also. We were ushered in, offered food, the landlord, Alan, even opened the bar! Was above and beyond all I expected, travelling back , we arrived late and Alan's wife (I forget your... More

28th June - spent two nights at the Blue Peter Hotel and could not fault it. Good welcome, good cider and Real Ale! The food was first class, especially the hand cut chips! Only disappointment was that by the time we had ordered on the Saturday night they had run out of giant scotch eggs which looked amazing (need to... More

Just had a weekend in the Blue Peter Hotel, we came to Kirkcolm to scatter my step father's ashes in the Glen. Everyone at the Blue Peter looked after us brilliantly, nothing was to much trouble, they were all very caring and supportive. The Blue Peter Hotel is situated in a lovely little village and I will be back again... More
