This hotel is based upon centuries old farm buildings that now offer modern accommodation in a rustic and tranquil setting. We stayed for two nights in room 9 which was at the rear of the hotel. The room itself was tastefully decorated and well equipped; the double bed was large and exceptionally comfortable. We had lovely views over the hills...

We stayed for a couple of days at the Hand. The room was clean and cosy and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The 3 course dinner we had was really good - pate was excellent,so was my salmon main and my Fiancees gammon was cooked to perfection. The cheeseboard dessert was a tasty way to complete our meal. The breakfast...

If you want a relaxing break away from everything this is the perfect place. The Hotel is in a very small out of the way village, no shops, no pubs, (apart from The Hand and The West arms) just a small cluster of houses, set amid fields and lost of sheep. The Hotel itself is delightful, all staff were very...

Stayed here for the weekend. Arrived friday afternoon to a friendly welcome. Shown to our room which was a bit on the small side. Had we have been staying longer than 2 nights would have preferred a more larger room. Bathroom good size and clean although tiles could have done with a wipe over (perhaps I am nit picking). A...

Rooms are lovely, although the shower needs more pressure, beds comfortable. Food in the restaurant a little expensive for a little village pub, but the quality of product was excellent. Breakfast was stunning and recommended.

Stayed for one night after it being recommended to us by a friend. Greeted warmly on arrival and shown to our room which was spotless, comfortable and equipped with one of the best tea trays I have ever seen! Food in the restaurant is deserved of its award winning status-neither of us wanted to leave anything on our plates; the...

We had a couple of nights here. The staff were all extremely helpful and generally very friendly. A good atmosphere - a strange cross between luxury and cosy homey feel. The food was excellent and we thought good value, decent wine at a reasonable price. It seemed a bit busy in the bar the first night so we ate in...

There was only really one place that I had considered when deciding where to meet up with my family to celebrate my recent 50th birthday. My wife and I had visited once before in July 2015, and at that time, we were very impressed. The whole process from original booking to check out was effortless and I really felt that...

Stayed for two nights in room 2. The room was spacious and well furnished. The whole hotel is exceptionally clean. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The management and chef bent over backwards to accommodate my wife's dietary needs and preferences. Meals were delightful and they have an excellent wine list. Can't fault this place, it ticks ALL the boxes, very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hand is an ancient hostelry with all the attributes you'd expect - bags of character, a cosy, relaxing ambience and a warm welcome from your hosts, Jonathan and Jackie Greatorex. As soon as you arrive you feel the weight of the world dissolving as the surroundings work their magic. All the classic ingredients are here - old beams, roaring fireplaces, a casual mix-and-match of pine and oak furniture, real ale and good food. The latter is seriously good. Thanks to the talents of Head Chef Grant Mulholland and his team, The Hand is renowned for award-winning food, an inventive marriage of country fare and sophisticated metropolitan cuisine. The bedrooms, in a variety of sizes, reflect similar influences, with rustic decor and sparkling modern bathrooms. Country lovers just love the location. You can walk in the Berwyns for hours with only the sheep for company and the ever-helpful Hand can arrange many country pursuits, including horse riding, fishing and shooting. You may be away from it all, but you'll also be in the swing of things; this gem of a country inn is so much a part of village life that locals and visitors mix in unaffected harmony. ... more   less
