Stayed here last October, as well as March '17, the building is old and quirky, the bedroom was clean and comfortable, plenty of teas and coffees, plenty of towels and good shower. The breakfast are extra special, made to order, piping hot made and served by the owner Neil a nice cheerful chap with loads of area knowledge. We are...

We stayed here following an annual job I have to do near Swansea then we usually stay somewhere in Wales for the weekend. This year we chose Monmouth as we don"t really know it, it is closer to home and my brother lives on the other side of the Forest of Dean so he came for a meal on Friday...

Stayed on Saturday night for a night. Lovey and warm , room spotless. Everyone was so pleasant we could not fault anything, even the young men drinking in the bar in the night were very nice. Breakfast was lovely quality and as much as you could want. Will definitely be going again when we are up there.

Friendliest welcome you could hope for, Neil and Keiron welcomed the two of us and dog like we were old friends - especially dog which was great. The pub was cosy with its log fire, great ales and friendly locals. The breakfast was really good. Overall experience especially at the price was very good, only one proviso was that a more thorough...

Go to Monmouth 4 times a year, used to stay at Ye Old Ferrie Inn but too cold. This is a very old pub, 1579?? Good for Jazz. Beer was good, room excellent and breakfast even better. Very reasonable, friendly and room all good. Good for access to Main Street.

Stayed on a Saturday night. First impression was "oh dear" but soon changed to "lovely stay" Neil the manager was very welcoming and pleased to engage and talk about the history of the building. From our nightcap... or two in the bar, to our beautifully cooked breakfast, we had a lovely comfortable stay. It's an old building so it will...

We had a lovely time here. The beds were so comfortable and our room was at the top in a quirky little attic space. My kids thought it was a great adventure! The building is hundreds of years old and we were told all about it by Keiron who greeted us and showed us to our room. We had an...

The building I would think is 300 possibly 400 years old and obviously a listed building, the bar area is quite large, they do have live music occasionally, the bar staff are very efficient, table's cleared and glasses washed immediately, The landlord /owner is a great character and the bar Manager is a very friendly very efficient person. The bedrooms...

I give credit to Neil, the owner, for maintaining this pub as an occasional live music venue. He is also friendly and helpful. The bedrooms and common areas are of the 'no frills' variety, lacking the personal touch but reasonably clean and tidy. Breakfast, however, was very disappointing both in its presentation and the low quality of the ingredients. What...
