Visited here recently for a birthday meal. The meal was acceptable but the barman/receptionist needs to smile!!most uninviting!!what is the problem with this person!we would all like to know. He needs to learn how to greet people not at all welcoming. The waitresses were very pleasant perhaps they could teach the barman people skills.

I've been going to the George on and off for decades. The food has never risen beyond passable pub grub, sometimes OK, sometimes poor with watery, overcooked vegetables. Fortunately, there are now two or three better places to eat. On my last visit, just for a coffee, they excelled themselves. I asked for 2 cappucinos and was asked (a little...

This Hotel is in a great spot on the Mawddach Estuary with great views. The Hotel is friendly and the food is amazing! The menu is extensive with delicious meals too many to choose from! All cooked to order and served efficiently.

We know the George III hotel rather well as we have a caravan in the area. We read the reviews as we haven't stayed over before and we were familiar in the past with some of the more negative points regarding service so we were prepared. I have to say that the staff and service this weekend were exemplary. One...

A friend and I stumbled upon this old hotel facing a beautiful estuary wile looking for accommodations for the night. The hotel's twin rooms were already rented and the friendly and helpful receptionist gave us a good rate on the family suite with 2 bedrooms. The furnishings were in keeping with the hotel's 350+ age and the rooms were clean,...

This is the 3rd time I've stopped off at the George and I just cannot work out what their problem is? If you want to be greeted by extremely rude awful staff and an unfriendly welcome then this place is for you! Never have I met such miserable people who are quite blatantly rude to your face. Surely if you...

Been meaning to go to Barmouth for ages, and found time so booked within 2 days of travel - by using booking.com, quick and easy. Nowhere available in Barmouth (we have a dog to cater for)! Saw the George, looked nice, price was right, etc... Couldn't have been better. What a location, on the edge of the estuary with magnificent...

We stayed here in early November. We know the area well as we used to bring the children here for a week every year many, many moons ago. It has changed very little and is still a wonderful part of the world. The Hotel is old and fascinating, having originally bee a chandlery when they built ships the estuary. The...

I was a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews but this hotel is really a great little find. Check in was easy and the staff were not at all rude. We arrived earlier than the 3pm check in but that was no problem. We were in room 7 which is in the lodge. Really spacious, warm and cosy....

Three walking companions used George III Hotel as a base...again. The hotel is a lovely old building; every floorboard creaks, every pipe seems to clank and don't forget to mind your head against low-flying beams. Brilliant. No shortage of hot water for a soak in the bath after a long day walking in the hills. The location of this hotel...
