We visited the Skirrid mountain inn for the first time last evening. A pretty early evening run up to the inn, through a lovely village. The inn is ancient, with many interesting features including a massive Inglenook fire place with a lovely welcoming fire.We enjoyed a good bar meal,a couple of drinks and found the staff extremely friendly and obliging. There was a good...

The oldest pub in Wales. Hauntings. A notorious place of execution. How much better can it get? We wanted to visit the Skirrid Mountain Inn for some time. It's a place that seemingly has more than one reason to visit. Some visitors might gleefully relish the thought of sitting down to dine in an honest to goodness haunted building. Without...

Visited the Skirrid Inn at lunch time on a Tuesday. We received a warm welcome from the staff and the dog was allowed in the beer garden (Water bowls available). I had a lovely pint in the sun and ordered the Beavan 1/4 lb burger with chips and salsa. Really good food in a nice atmosphere. The Inn from the...

Must make time to visit this fantastic looking pub, and claimant to Wale's oldest inn, as we made the mistake of assuming it would be open all day like most others. The building certainly looked impressive from outside, and we will be back.

Went here twice on our recent holiday to Wales as we were staying just down the road. The kids meals were of a perfect size (and price!) for our 10 and 8 year olds, with a good selection available to them. For us grown ups, the rest of the menu was a good size without being to vast or too...

If you're looking for 4 star luxury with all mod cons then this is not the place for you. However we couldn't fault the warm welcome from Geoff, the landlord and his staff. The food was excellent home cooked fare and good value for money and the service was faultless. The rooms are certainly atmospheric, in keeping with the Inn's...

Just stopped her with friends in rooms 2 and 3. Didn't feel or see anything and nor did the couple in room 1. Plenty of spirits in the bar though!! Geoff is a wonderful host and gave us the run of the pub after it had closed. Both he and his staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to...

An excellent place! Staff are very friendly and helpful, can't say enough about them. Rooms are spacious and clean. The stairs have that "creepy" feeling that is associated with the history of the place and the overall character of the building is superb! Thanks again to all wonderful staff there!

we didn't stay the night but I'm definitely glad we didn't. so cold! everyone in the pub was sat with their coats on apart from the two tables lucky enough to be by the fire. I know it's an old inn, but that dosent mean it should feel like having a pint in a barn. the atmosphere was unique due...
