All decor is to a high standard, the hotel benefits financially from a constant clientele of technicians, who stay here to work at the nearby power station. They are however invisible, as eat early in evening and more so in the mornings. A notable addition not present elsewhere is a guests private lounge area( first floor). This has comfortable sofa,
with armchairs and a large table with seats ideal for a group stay, to meet and plan their excursions. Excellent facility.
Bathroom well laid out with shower with multiple shower spray nozzles and seat. Here's a first, on the wall is a operating guide to the shower control, brilliant, most places have arcane shower controls, which entail getting scalded to guide one to the optimal setting.
Had evening meal on 2 nights one was special of the day which was lamb and was ok. The second night had the a la carte steak which was fabulous, owing to perfect chips and again a first a vegetable selection, which I supplemented with peas. Dont appreciate steak meals with minimalist trimmings. or the thrice cooked chips craic which means cooking 1. was 2 weeks ago!! Again dining and bar area are all pristine waitress was friendly and attentive. Now for a minus the beer franchise supplier has put in a few unknown brews and 3 gay cider varieties, so would advise any drinkers to venture across road to Cross Saws if lashing down as it was when I was here. If dry a 10min walk to the castle and turn right downhill to Royal George would be well worth the exercise.
Breakfast was good nothing derogatory to report, so all in all if stopping in Pembroke this is the top spot.
Restaurant has special offers as well as the standard menu. Free car parking.
Hotel staff were friendly and the evening meal was lovely however this was overshadowed by the chaotic breakfast service.
It appears that one staff member cooks and the other takes orders, and does the reception. Only it took us 20 mins to be asked what we wanted for breakfast. She walked away too quick before we got chance to ask how we wanted our eggs cooked or brown or white toast or mixed etc. Then she cant remember who ordered what as walks around the restaurant asking who ordered what breakfast.
It became laughable. Tea cups always ran out at the vending machine.
One couple took their poached eggs back as they werent done properly and then waited for 20 minutes, the eggs never came back and they gave up and walked out
On the Sunday there was a sign up saying the restaurant was closed so we went into Tenby but then came back in the night and the bar was open, so no idea what happened then
Breakfast service needs a bar manager to welcome guests in and take orders..
A toaster to hand and some croissants etc
The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and welcoming and our accommodation was excellent. We stayed in a twin room suite and it was very generously sized with nice sitting area, 2 tvs, coffee machine, fridge as well as plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. All areas were spotlessly clean. Beds were really comfy with good quality bed linen, pillows, duvets etc - we got a
great nights sleep!!
Overall the hotel was modern in decor and in a nice light and airy style. Hotel has a bar, restaurant with ample parking.
The hotel was well situated - just a short walk from Pembroke Castle.
Special mention to Mandy in the restaurant who not only served us with an excellent breakfast but also gave us some excellent information on places to visit along the Pembroke coast.
The food was fabulous and every meal was a real treat. Many thanks to chef Katie. We had a good choice at breakfast and for our dinner in the evening. There are of course a number of places to choose from in Pembroke but why would we when we had the best at the Coach House Hotel. Simon in the Dining Room always had a smile and a word with us so thanks to him and all of the other members of staff as well. The hotel had free parking and the setting with the beautiful Mill Walk along to Pembroke Castle was a joy!
During our 2 night stay we didn’t have to drive far to find stunning places to visit. We went to Freshwater East beach and Stackpole Quay and walked over to Barafundle Bay. We also walked by the beautiful lily ponds at Bosherston and stepped out onto Broad Haven South beach ! What an awesome surprise that is!
We live in fabulous West Wales but this was near enough to be as easy as possible but we still got a feeling of being on holiday. We loved our stay at The Coach House in Pembroke and wish to especially thank Sally, the jewel in the crown there for giving us such a wonderful stay. We will definitely look forward to returning! Many Thanks Glenda and Alan Jones
We were booked for 2 nights, but wife was taken ill so had to leave next day.
The lady on reception said my wife looked ill so was taken back only to find out when we came home with a phone call from her no refund for 2nd night.
As we left at 9am surely she could have let the room.
My question to the hotel is perhaps they could donate the ,£105 they got for the room to charity as obviously that would be a nice jester.
I await there reply won't hold my breath
with Mandy and Josey on breakfast its always entertaining. the food at breakfast is always good. the staff are always singing in the kitchen, this shows how happy Mandy and Josey are at work so not much wrong with the coach house. in seems a very good atmosphere to work in Mandy always says how much she likes the work and hotel.
The owner is always very pleasant and talkative when i get back in the afternoon. Sally even remembers my name which is good.
the evening meals are good, set menu plus specials board. the kitchen evening staff is normally helpful if you fancy something different. they are always ready to help if possible. not all the evening restaurant staff are helpful. some nights they seem to be in a world of there own.
