Took advantage of a January offer ( Sunday to Thursday) of one night in suite, dinner bed and breakfast with a bottle of champagne in room for £189 per room. We have been to the Lake for Sunday lunches but this is our first stay. The hotel is full of character with most original features still intact. We had the Rose room in the main building on the first floor. Comfortable bed, huge TV, sitting area and a modern bathroom with shower. Champagne in the room was excellent, not a cheap bottle. There is no bar as such, you sit in the lounge and order drinks with the staff. There is a wide variety of wines by the glass plus an extensive wine menu. Dinner was excellent with a good vegetarian choice. You also get canapes in the lounge and an amuse bouche before your meal, you wont leave hungry. Very good breakfasts with plenty of veggie options. You have use of the pool and gym and there are spa treatments available at extra cost. There are walks around the grounds and lake but take wellies or boots if wet. Very dog friendly, Real fires in lounge areas. The whole atmosphere is one of relaxation with no music, or being rushed. Would highly reccommend a stay.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was great, the highlight being the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. The 3 course evening meal was very tasty and the breakfast offering faultless. The spa is superb too, had my first ever massage and it won't be my last. Very nice and quiet part of Wales. The only thing holding me back from going to 5 stars is that I didn't feel the room truly offered brilliant value for money, don't get me wrong it was nice but considering the price it felt a little dated/lacking. I don't want this to sound negative though, I'd highly recommend a trip here to get away from it all and relax/recharge!

My husband & I have just returned home from a wonderful three night break at this lovely hotel. From the minute you walk through the door there is a sense of welcoming & friendliness. Zoe booked us in & made sure we were quickly settled into our suite in the main house. This was spacious & very comfortable with patio doors leading onto a small terrace however, at this time of year we were unable to make use of it but in the summer it would be lovely to sit out & chill. Vanessa, Emily & Laura the other receptionists, were also very friendly & nothing was too much to ask of them.

At the Spa I had a hot stone back massage given to me by Emma, who was really nice, which left me feeling very calm & relaxed.

Both the breakfast & evening meals were excellent & as I am gluten free, due to Coeliac disease, I would like to thank the chefs as well as Terry, Lenka, Marcel, Alejandro & Rosie for ensuring that my meals were safe for me to eat.

When we chatted with Mr Mifsud, the owner, he said he wanted his quests to feel at home & we certainly did feel this especially when relaxing in the beautiful lounge.

Thank you & well done to everyone!

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Relaxing couple of days as always. Lovely quiet, comfortable hotel with friendly staff. The room was on the ground floor ,the sitting area was lovely and light especially in the afternoon sun, the bed was comfortable, lots of hot water available for the shower and bath and there were complimentary toiletries.
The food in the restaurant was interesting and full of flavour.
A short walk around the grounds or along the River Irfon to Llangammarch Wells are pleasant with lots of places to walk and explore in the area.
Enjoyed the Spa facilities and also the massage .
Always feel very comfortable at the Lake and welcomed by the staff.

From the moment we asked whether they had availability we felt that we mattered to the hotel not simply as revenue but as guests whom they wanted to welcome and make comfortable. I have a lung condition and can’t walk very far and a downstairs suite with disability access was arranged. When we arrived we were escorted to a reserved parking space outside our room and wherever we went in the hotel the staff went the extra mile to make me feel ‘looked after’. The room was excellent although the shower could do with a little updating. Breakfast was first class, cheerful staff making us feel relaxed and unhurried. We went down to the pool and spa which looked delightful. The grounds are beautiful even if the lake was looking a bit water starved because of the drought. Dinner was high quality cooking which it needed to be for the £55 cost. Again the staff seemed to be enjoying their jobs.

Only one small gripe was the arrangement for ev charging. £20 for a 24 hour booking is not a sensible arrangement when a recharge takes 4 hours. £20 even with energy price rises is a bit excessive.

We are looking forward to returning. Lake House isn’t a cheap option but it is worth it for the way we felt valued, wanted and looked after. May the staff continue to bring smiles to our faces.

My wife and I have just had a 2 night spa and fishing break here, and it was fabulous!
Wonderful room and hospitality, the staff could not have been more helpful, and the food was amazing!
My wife enjoyed the spa treatments and we both had a very leisurely half hour swim, with nobody else in due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
The fishing in the lake was trying, as it is somewhat clogged with underwater growth, but fish could be seen moving, although not towards what I was offering for dinner.
The river was too high and fast to fish, but as I didn’t venture beyond the hotel grounds, I couldn’t say that there weren’t other parts of the hotel’s beat with easier access to slower water.
All in all, an extremely pleasant place to spend a few days - we shall be back!

The location of the hotel is marvellous and the interior is very interesting and comforting, with wood panels and Victorian and Edwardian furniture. But we went there for afternoon tea and at 2 pm we were the only ones there, although there was another resident couple having simplier fare.

We received a warm welcome and were taken to ths sitting room, close to the window.

The afternoon tea was disappointing. There were no savouries apart from three sandwiches each and the other food were quite modest small cakes. The tea was in bags not fresh leaves and we were not asked if we wanted more tea.

There are now many places offering afternoon tea. Particularly excellent examples will be found at Tortworth Manor (near the Severn Edtuary) and in the Angel (Abergavenny). The Lakeside tea that we enjoyed is probably T the bottom end of the quality spectrum, although the hotel itself is in a beautiful part of Britain.

Having enjoyed many fabulous British country hotels we believe that the the Lake Country Hotel is very, very special. The food is incredible and the fixed price menu unbelievable value. The head chef, Robert Mitchell, and his team delivered fantastic, exciting and beautiful food time and again. The dining room and front of house staff are all local and so welcoming and are as good as anywhere we have stayed in the world. The dining experience is wrapped around by a luxurious country house with wood burners in every room and genuinely friendly, professional local staff. Outside you have acres of stunning Welsh countryside to walk in, a lake to fish with the kids and the stunning river to walk alongside with the family and dog. If that is not enough, the spa and pool are beautifully located beside the lake and the hot tub, which is on the first floor of the spa building, is open to the skies and overlooks the lake. But PS don’t tell anyone, as we’d like to keep this place for ourselves. Overall: well worth the journey, fantastic value, awesome Welsh/British country house experience and food that matches the finest restaurants in london for less than half the price.

This place was recommended to me by my in-laws as a retreat away from all the stress affecting myself and my husband.

Staff have been absolutely welcoming and consistently friendly. I used to work in the hospitality sector and I know it's difficult to always have a smile on your face but it's a great sign to see everyone so happy.

The room is gorgeous, I love quaint furnishings and again the staff were very accommodating in offering myself and my husband an upgraded room with a jacuzzi. We decided to extend our stay in line with the in-laws and again staff were very accommodating.

The quality of the food has been outstanding. Excellent service and a really tasty menu. My mother-in law really appreciated the full vegetarian menu for Ash Wednesday so I can say given her smile that the vegetarian menu is as good as the one for us meat lovers!

Champagne on arrival in the room, part of the deal but really tasty and delicious. Did not taste like some cheap stuff you sometimes get pawned off with. (I come from Dublin and honestly our hospitality sector is terrible for that). It was something my husband and I enjoyed together!

The spa! Well unfortunately if you have a favourite pool or spa from wherever you are visiting, the folks here will ruin it for you! Their spa facial treatments are amazing and the pool is immaculate. The space too is beautiful, the acoustics just allow for a perfect calming environment. Also the hot tub overlooking the countryside is amazing! I don't know how I will manage with the gym back home...

Thoroughly impressed to find a full snooker table, it really is a place to just relax in and be away from civilization for a while. Maybe some people would find it dated but for both myself and my husband who work a lot with technology I think it was the perfect escape.

A really big thank you to the staff though! I don't work in hospitality anymore, but I have to say you all do a wonderful job taking care of everyone with a pleasent and genuine smile! I wish the place I had worked in before had such an atmosphere!

We received a warm welcome at the hotel & were shown to our room giving information on dining times, spa etc. We were allocated Lodge 7 for the weekend. A lovely spacious, comfortable suite. The Spa area is in a separate building near to the lake & has a lovely pool, sauna, steam & hot tub. There areas to sit & relax along with a small gym. The gardens are lovely walk around too. We opted to dine in the hotel & we were not disappointed. Excellent friendly service throughout the dining experience on both evenings. Great food. Breakfast again had great service and a good choice of breakfast options both cooked & cold. All staff were fantastic.
The only thing that I found a little disappointing was the lack of attention in the cleaning of the room & I also thought more constant tidying & cleaning could have been done in the pool/changing room area.
Otherwise a great stay.

I think the food is absolutely delicious - I am a vegetarian but my husband is a meat eater and he really enjoyed everything he ate. Breakfasts and dinner both excellent, haven't tried the light lunch or afternoon tea. But have enjoyed everything I have tried.

Really not much choice within half hour drive. But if you're ok with pub food, it is excellent at the Trout Inn at Beulah. Only 10 mins away. Clean, good menu and pleasant staff!
