My husband and I had a great time visiting Blancaneaux. Although we went during the rainy season, the weather was warm enough and the rain sporadic enough that it didn't change our vacation. However, the weather was a little cooler than I expected - I wish I had brought more sweatshirts and long pajamas. The lodge is very beautiful, and...

Just returned from a 5-day stay at Blancaneaux with my parents and our 10-year-old son. The trip was a birthday gift for him, and we wanted something that would be fun and educational. We were not disappointed, even though we went in the "rainy season." (Actually, given how warm it can get in the jungle when the sun is out,...

Staying at Blancaneaux was the greatest experience I have ever had traveling. My husband and I visited for 4 nights on our Honeymoon and it was greater than anything we could have ever imagined. The rooms were gorgeous (rustically so), their staff was caring and attentive and the organic garden made their food something we still crave. They make sure...

We stayed 4 nights at the Blancaneaux Lodge. We shared the Francis Ford Coppola’s Villa with family. We ate the buffet at the Montagna Ristorante, enjoyed dinner at the Guatemaltecqua Restaurant, and had drinks at the Jaguar Bar. Here’s our thoughts: Blancaneaux Lodge: The resort is amazing. Nestled in the jungle, it was peaceful and beautiful. The FFC Villa was...

You know how sometimes things look better on the website? Or a glowing magazine article that you took at face value was actually pandering to the peeps who sponsored the press trip/junket? I hate it when that happens. It's sooooo amazing when a place actually exceeds your expectations--doesn't happen as often as it should. Thank you, Blancaneaux Lodge, for astonishing...

This place is like none I have ever encountered, mountain views, horseback riding, organic gardens, river rapids, warm pools, excellent wine, gracious & caring staff...is there anything more to life? This was the MOST decadent vacation experience I have ever had ( & was only there for 2 nights!).The staff was quiet yet ALWAYS available, the rooms were unBelieveably comfortable,...

This hotel is located on one of the most beautiful pieces of property I have ever seen. It is a secluded jungle mountain lodge above a river. The drive to get here proves how remote it is (45 minute drive from the highway in San Ignacio, mostly dirt roads covered in potholes). There is a landing strip on the grounds,...

With the sound of the running river outside our cabana, I was lulled into a peaceful lumber every night. The grounds are stunning, we loved walking around and exploring the farms, horse stables, gardens, pool, and hiking trails. Definitely recommend this place.

In a word: Tranquility. Worth it. Great service. Good food. Good choice of activities. Highly recommend it as an escape for 3 or 4 days like us or for months to write your memoir.

Honeymoon, this place was the most relaxing spot on the earth after a wedding. You truly feel like you are in the middle of no where. Bring bug spray! But relax and enjoy the services that they offer. I must say it was probally the most relax that I have ever been.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the early 1980s, Francis Ford Coppola visited Belize, immediately fell in love with the location, and purchased the abandoned Blancaneaux Lodge. For more than a decade the resort was used as a family retreat before Francis opened his tropical paradise to the public in 1993. Tucked away in a pocket of the Maya Mountains, Blancaneaux Lodge is a 20-room luxury resort where waterfalls tumble into turquoise pools above the jungle canopy. Its remote mountain setting makes it a perfect place to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. ... more   less
