Detailed Reviews
Surprisingly comfortable and nice. We were on our way home from Keystone Colorado and wanted to put in as many hours of driving as possible to get back to DFW, Texas. We decided to stop in Claude, TX and check into a hotel. Cashier at the CEFCO convenient store on the main street recommended L.A. Motel. just three blocks down. We checked in - apprehensive at first because it looks like something out of the 1950s...some renovations needed in the front parking pavement leading into motel. However, the price was astonishingly affordable for a room with two double beds (55.00 including the tax!). Room was spacious, had microwave, small fridge, clean towels and dresser spaces. Heating unit immediately went to work to keep room comfortable. Shower is nice and clean. Big vanity sink on the outside, which is nice, as it allows the bathroom a bit more room to move around in. Bed mattress is comfortable and even though motel is located on main strip in town, noise level from outside is tolerable.
In all, this is a nice little motel that is unassuming, yet comfortable and affordable. The owner/receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Hubby loved the fact that we can back our car right up to the door to unload the heavy luggage. No need to climb stairs as all rooms are on ground level. Highly recommended for travellers who are wishing to stay within budget and still have a room that is spacious and contains all the amenities of higher priced accommodations.

We have driven by this motel many times over the years in our travels, but never thought we would stay here. We found our pet-friendly room very clean and fresh-smelling. We were surprised at how quiet it was given its proximity to a well-travelled road. Disappointed at the lack of food options, but that is not the fault of the hotel. All-in-all, it was a pleasant experience. No complaints.

We arrived on Thursday and got settled in right away. We have been staying at the LA motel for many years for reunions and funerals. We have always been welcomed and the owners have went above and beyond to accommodate us. We have never had any problems and are thankful for this hotel and the owners. The beds are comfortable and the amenities are good. Also the wifi is easy to access.

I have been staying in this hotel for many years during our yearly family reunion. Lots of updates being done to the rooms, the owners treat us like family. There are many things to see and do in this area. Will continue to stay here each year!!

Very clean room! Small but worked very well for me on my motorcycle trip. Friendly, CLEAN and everything worked as expected! PLENTY of hot water for a long shower! The owner remembered me on my trip back. She fixed me up with a room in just a few minutes. Will stay there every time I go through Claude! 5 STARS from me!

I was shocked by the motel by HWY 287 in this little town. Motel was very clean, and quite place the owners were nice and helpful. With very reasonable rates. HBO, and other movie channels. Great water pressure, new beds , cold a/c , Micro wave , ect.

Small clean motel room with comfortable king bed. AAA available with very reasonable rate. Room has fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Warning: bring your own shampoo. There was soap. Walls very pink. We called an hour ahead for the room but when we got there had to turn on heat as room was freezing and smelled like mothballs. Sufficient for a nights sleep but no ammenities or breakfast. Had to go to Clarendon for breakfast 30 miles away. Would stay here again but make sure I had shampoo.

A small roadside motel from days gone by.
The room was small, but clean, tidy, but dated. It contained the normal facilities.
Snags;
30 yards from a busy road, 300 yards from a rail crossing (which means, trains sounding their horns).
The road got quieter at about 1AM. And picked up at about 6 AM. Not the best thing for a good nights sleep.
The town itself is dying by the hour, unfortunately the only thing to comenend it, is cheap gas.
It probably had its best days in the 30's, which is a shame as the motel owners are working hard.

+1
I was surprised to say the lest that we could not get a single room in Amarillo tx on a weekend nigh. It was 2 am and we were done driving, we had to keep driving to the next town and I was so happy that la motel had a room after 15 hotels turned us away. We pull up and it was not a 5 start place but the rooms where clean so we stayed. Amazing price and it had a tv, mini frig, microwave, the rooms where big and it was not hard to cool or heat with the wall unit. I highly recommend if u need to stop bc they are the only nicer looking place to stay for an hour + each way. No joke you will find nothing for miles each way. Overall great value and noise was ok with ac on.

Driving back to Dallas from skiing in Colorado, needed sleep, and found this place on a Google search for motels in Claude after finding all Amarillo hotels booked solid. Phoned regarding availability while driving on 287, and 15 minutes later our family of six - 2 adults + 14, 13, 10, and 4 year olds, was warm and cozy in adjacent rooms, after meeting the cheerful and helpful owner just after midnight. We’ll definitely stay again and highly recommend to weary travelers. Nice TV, fridge, beds, microwave, hot water, and recliner. Cannot be beat for the price.
