Yes, for real. Times are good and too often, mainstream brands who claim to be in this strata I feel - are basically just a courtyard with larger lobby with services dumbed down. Not here. Omni Dallas is a true, luxury business hotel. Does that mean Four Seasons - no - and they don't claim that but this location easily puts many Marriotts and Westins to shame in my never to be so humble opinion. I just returned today....and for you, my Dear Reader, I thought to pen my thoughts while they are still fresh but bottom line, Upscale, Thoughtful, Comfortable. At the end I will write a few minor suggestions but not to complain - rather, out of respect that this hotel aims to excel. Entrance ************ Very clearly marked. Plenty of room for cars to pull up, load, unload. Lobby ********* It is a convention hotel so inded there will be large groups and it can gt load but nevertheless it is lovely. Bright enough, lovely rich color schemes......modern WITHOUT being cold. Seriously, the world is becoming one big impersonal QR code hence I wished to point out that there- modern is also warm and inviting. Greeting ************ All front desk I saw were efficient, and genuinely friendly. I was assisted by a fellow whose name started with "Q" and overall he was affable and efficient. He made small talk, offered water, and gave clear directions. More on this at the bottom. Elevators ************ Pretty quick. No worries. Room ******* 1st off, the doors don't "SLAM" shut. Big Points for being thoughtful! So many pretending to be 4-star hotels let the doors just slam and you hear it all day and night but not here, and I appreciate it . Sufficient lighting, attractive fixtures, plenty of room. Shower had room for 2 people - but nobody in their right mind would ever join me in there anyways. I feel the shower pressure *should* be better at a place this caliber. Yes- I get enviro concerns but then I question why in the convention hall people had to don sweaters because they blast the A/C. A bit more water pressure would be good. Upscale toiletries are provided. The only noise I heard in the room is of course people walking by and talking loud in the halls but not once did I hear noise or talking from rooms next to mine and I great appreciate that. It was 108 degrees in Texas and I feel the A/C kept up in my room.....again, thoughtfulness. It actually kept the room cool. Staying with the theme - the room was modern but cozy at the same time. The sofa and bed were very comfortable and overall the atmosphere in my room was a pleasure. Room Service ****************** . It's not the old days of wheeling tables into the room but at least this amenity is available and I gotta say, I'm pretty picky with food and I was content with this. They bring it in a bag....but the food is nicely packed in large covered trays. I really loved the Chicken Wings. I ordered Caesar salad both times and both times was pleased with it. The Wings were delivered nice and hot - -and then once, warm. Oh: a REAL person takes the order! Thanks, I love that. And each night the guy was friendly and got the order right.....and promptly delivered. There's a delivery charge plus 21% gratuity. Ok fine. BUT....any higher than that - this writer would go Domino's. Texas Spice (Breakfast) ******************************* Budget time to get seated....their process is nice -- but can get backed up. I was very impressed with the buffet. Juice was good, coffee hot. Servers attentive. (Frances, was exceptional). There are made to order omelettes and the ingredients are great quality and they were appetizing. I will say - *one* of the omelette ladies isn't the happiest human. I know they are under stress, people belting out orders. I get it. But the lady on the left was consistently nice while the one on the left - just ok. More the bottom on this. Bacon was delicious. And speaking of THOUGHTFUL....the plates are such a lovely size, where you can truly fix yourself a meal. Breakfast potatoes were CRISP! Crisp! They replenished multiple times. So you didn't have to use the potatoes as a floater in the swimming pool later. The fruit selection was good quality and not dumbed down. Cantaloupe, pineapple were served attractively - BUT also fresh and tasty. Generous berries available too. The danishes and pastries were also fresh and moist. I usually don't do the hotel buffets...but this one was a pleasure. SUGGESTIONS/MINOR ISSUES **************************************** Live from First World Problems HQ............... *At check-in. "Q" had trouble with my credit card's chip, I guess it wasn't scanning. I told him it worked fine all day and could he just enter in the number to which he politely said - "our policy is we must scan the chip....do you maybe have another card". Ugh - I was stressing. There was. good deal I was using on that card (Amex Plat) and I had no others. So in another wise great check in---it was a bit stressful on me I felt - for no reason. Finally, "tapping" worked but still....to make someone think they can't used the car for that reason isn't helpful. *CheckIn- graciously they give a bottled water. Why not ---keep those bottles cold? Your guests are coming in from the heat.....sub consciously, you give them a bottle nice and cold....I think it would be a remarkable first impression. You're providing this already....why not just buy a mini fridge or two? *Omelette station: Again, woman on the right ....not too nice. Each morning I got egg whites and on my final morning she just said tersely "No Egg Whites". So I go back to my table, wait for the busy server and told her that had I known there's no egg whites at buffet, I wouldn't have gotten buffet. I *wish* I got server's name (middle aged hispanic, bit older)...but she went to check with chef and within minutes was back and told me she'd bring me the egg whites. A manager himself delivered it. So my point is: The staff cares! Management cares! Maybe the unhappy omelette chef lady could be nicely told to behave like the other great staffers. *Room Service: Overall was good. BUT - if there's hot food and also a salad - please put the salad in a separate bag, otherwise the salad gets a bit lukewarm when I am sure it wa fresh and cold when prepared. Again - not a biggie, just an extra bag. *Texas Spice Breakfast and Lunch check-in process. Ok, there's conferences. Throngs of people come to the line at same time. I get it, and I concede this isn't a fast food joint. And each morning the hostess was very friendly.....they'd take your info, and when ready personally escort you to a table.....again it's a lovely, upscale process. BUT....if we know it's a choke point, and we know the waits get long...... I really hope they consider adding an extra hostess, or doing something to speed that up. Again - such a wonderful hotel.......this is not a major thing to fix...and could really enhance the breakfast or lunch dining experience. Summary ************ Overall, a pleasure to rate this place positive. In all honesty when I'm in Dallas next---as long as the rates are still fair--I wouldn't even check another hotel I would just boom Omni Dallas. So with that my Dear Friends, it is time for your lowly writer to bid you adieu (that's French) and whether you are Liberal, Conservative, Libertarian, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, or none of the above, I wish us all safe travels and let's remember - - hey man, we're traveling. Overall, life is good. Take a breath and smile.…
