This is really out in the country. The cabins are split into two sections (1/2,3/4,5/6) so review the photos carefully. They are compact but far better than a tent. Think a box with a bed, a bathroom, and a window AC unit. But like camping you need to bring all your food and supplies. The lodge has a full kitchen. Cabins...

Celebrated 30th Anniversary at the Round House. Beautiful, serene location. Enjoyed miles of long hikes with only the birds, sheep, and cows for company! Bring your own groceries - great kitchen and awesome BBQ pit.

Wonderful stay. The round house was just the place where we needed to be to welcome in 2017. We were looking for Texas charm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The peace and quiet allowed us time for reflection. The rain storm was majestic! The serene surroundings provided a sense of restoration long over due from a...

What a most serendipitous discovery…the X Bar Ranch Nature Retreat…and the divine Round House. Our much-needed soul restoration and spirit rejuvenation adventure into West Texas began with a stay at the Round House. Little did we know what awaited us. As we drove the long road to the Round House, we could feel our breath slowing…our spirits lifting. Pure beauty....

We really enjoyed our stay at the X Bar Ranch, which was a two-day stop on the way to Big Bend National Park. The architecture for the house is cute, but the look was not at the expense of comfort or convenience. The kitchen is thoughtfully furnished with full-size refrigerator and stove, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. There's a nice...

We were ready to stop for the night and could not find a camping site with good reviews anywhere between Fort Stockton and Junction. The website for the X Bar Ranch sounded like just the place for a peaceful retreat! I called the number and spoke to Stan who welcomed us to stay even though no one would be out...

My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at X-bar ranch to watch the Perseid meteor shower. The ranch is far enough away from the light pollution in east and central Texas that the sky is relatively dark, so you can see faint meteors (and other astronomical objects). The sky wasn't quite perfect, but in mid-August the high pressure ridge...

I stayed at the X Bar Ranch for the first time last week, and I was there for two nights. The cabin was very cozy and comfortable and was nicely decorated in a Texas/Southwest motif. I was able to walk on one of the trails - unfortunately the other two trails were closed. The bed was very comfortable which allowed...

Cabins are clean, comfy, with Texas decor. Access to the main lodge is great. This is a remote location so bring food. Outdoor grill with party lights; indoor kitchen facilities provide all necessary amenities to prepare food. Great porch with chairs. Wonderful stargazing opportunities...."the stars at night are big and bright!" Rustic but wonderful.

My husband and I stayed at X Bar a couple of weeks ago, and were both very pleasantly surprised by how nice this place is, especially considering how affordable it is. The pictures just don’t serve the place justice. It has an enchanting feel that pictures just can’t depict. It is amazingly quiet, except for the sounds of the great...
