Even though the hotel is older and not entirely well-kept, it's still a great option. The rooms are rather unique with brick walls. The view from the rooms is excellent. And the price was reasonable compared to other hotels on the island. Pros: Comfortable rooms, right on the seawall, great view, nice pool with a fountain. Cons: Bathroom is too...

The Commodore on the beach is an older hotel, but the prices are great, all rooms have patios you can sit on and see the beach, and the rooms are clean. Staff was nice and 24 hr coffee with a few items for breakfast included. We were very happy for the price we paid. I'd stay there again.

We stayed with our granddaughter for a few days over the Christmas holidays and it was just fine. We had a little balcony with a beach view. The beds were comfortable enough and all was clean. It's very conveniently located on Seawall Blvd. The in-room wifi was free, but spotty at best, which didn't bother us, but disappointed the 9-year-old....

This is a clean room for a reasonable price and perfect view of the beach and gulf. We will stay there again. The Commodore sits on the street corner with a pedestrian cross walk right in front, which leads straight to the beach, and is less than a mile from the Galveston Pleasure Pier, and walking distance to lots of...

Centrally located, a low-budget motel with a great pool area for visiting and playing cards, etc. Seawall traffic noise, yes. Ocean waves and seagulls, yes. If you want "class" stay at the Galvez or San Luis, but if you're looking for somewhere convenient to the beach and get some rest, this is perfect. Limited parking. Gumbo Diner is fantastic. All...

I stayed with THIS HOTEL February 24th 2017 of this year for mardi gras weekend. The amount i was supposed to be charged was $217.00 for a one night stay, i checked in at night and in the morning the payment still showed it was pending. Not being aware that the payment was never taken out Tuesday morning on 04/25/17...

We stayed at this hotel during Mardi Gras (in Feb). They did not charge our account until 2 months later!!! We were told that our card was charged and even received a receipt that said paid in full. They do not have a manager available to speak with to resolve problems. Their elevator was very loud, slow, and smelled funny....

I loved the location right across the street from the beach and next door to Gumbo's Diner and within walking distance to the famous Guido's. Every room has a balcony view, which is what attracted me to stay there. Unfortunately I reserved a room with 2 queen beds and wound up with one king sized bed instead? I was disappointed...

Booked room last week, signed in at 65.00 per night. At checkout, 65.00 per night became 79.00. I asked clerk to see my check in paperwork, and plain as day it says 65.00. Desk clerk "was unable" to fix this error, told me it would be handled by night auditor. A week later I'm still waiting, and about to dispute...

Is it an older hotel? Yes. Is it a bit awkward when you check in and the staff tells you that the cable and wifi work "only when it wants to"? Sure. Are the walls so thin that you can hear every conversation and moan coming from the rooms on both sides of you? Absolutely. But it's an affordable hotel...
